Deffo the right thing to do mate. Now, this sounds horrid, but most likely she doesnt remember the Kindle now. And even if she does, she is happy and content reading her books. If one day she asks you for it, just get it from the drawer, and say "there you go".

You get some serious clog in CA, but you are an example to us all mate. And like a few in this thread, I have a lot of empathy with what you are facing/dealing with. Its love mate. Aint all about walks and flowers and cuddles.

Thanks mate…and she has forgotten it……..

My sister is in a Nursing home in Manchester with Alzheimer’s, I have POA for her. She lost her phone somewhere , it’s never been found , she’s not worried about it so I’ve neither replaced or cancelled it. She too takes to reading books which is good, well at least she tells me she is reading when I phone her, although usually she can’t recall the book she’s reading. I think you’re making the right calls, there’s no easy or black and white answers you just adapt to each situation.

Sorry to hear this, I’m sure she’s being well looked after. I’ve had to remove her debit card and give it to my son in case she loses it. He’s always with her or I am. It’s true about the books. She used to have a photographic memory and would read a book in a matter of hours, she still reads very quickly but when I ask what the book was about turns to the back cover to give a précis. Like you say, we are adapting as there’s no manual of how to deal with this as while there are similarities everyone is different. I hope your sister is doing ok and that you are coping…..

Good morning all on this hot day already here in Hyvinkää ,we are off out today for a graduation party for twins who and Mrs Blues nephews once removed .
They live in the first million euro house I will have visited to my knowledge .Photos will follow to show what that gets you in the most expensive area in Finland .I hope all managed to sleep with the heat and have a fine day today .
Once again I am so impressed with what we have turned this thread into ,Karl would love it .

Good morning all. The last few pages of this thread have been a joy - reading books, chippy teas with a 6 year old, mojitos with your BFF, new computer games, beautiful sunsets. It really is the simple things in life that make us most happy.
The non stop party weekend continued yesterday by celebrating a friend's 50th birthday. She is a former work colleague and union rep and total bad influence on me (but that could work both ways🤣) Her husband was also a work colleague - huge Springsteen and Bowie fan. Come round for a few drinks at about 3 they said. Mr F and I had a conversation which roughly said we would be sensible because of our previous very late night; we'll come home at about 9. You can guess the rest. We staggered home at 1am. I rediscovered my love for bacardi and coke🤣. It was a fun night - again simple things: a night spent with good friends.
I am impressed with my stamina this weekend. There's life in the old dog yet!

Morning chums ,

Very heavy and overcast today and thunderstorms forecasted for this afternoon.

So , got up early and did a couple of hours on the jungle area before my Sunday morning yoga.

Ok it's a bit like a decorator stripping the wallpaper and sanding down the woodwork - I put hours in so far but you can't see much for it. As mum said this morning" I see you out there all the time but I don't see what you've done ". God love her !

Mrs J has a potting shed which sits on an area of paving which in total is about 20ft x 50ft. There is a 3ft high raised bed to the left of the paving and nothing on the right. So far I've been potting up her herbs from the raised bed , moving huge amounts of achitectural salvage that she's collected over the years ( quarry tiles / edging stones / troughs etc ) that she dumped behind her shed, clearing brambles and stinging nettles that had taken root amonst the salvage and lifting and moving the flagstones . I think I've lifted about 20 2x2 flags and moved them about 100 yards to the animal enclosure. The ones left are 3x 2 and man they are heavy - too heavy for me so I will ask a friend to give me a hand next week.

Then I can put the pathways in , construct an covered walkway behind the potting shed ( so something - probably an exotic clematis / Mrs J does the plants ) can grow up it and cover it. Then I can dig in fresh topsoil to the planting areas , erect a fence on the right hand side and finally start planting.

It won't look much this year but the stuff we are putting in like bananas , cannas , bamboo and palms etc will be pretty fast growing and by year 2 should start to resemble a jungle. I will try to post a before photo.

Anyway having bored you with my Monty Don impression I hope you all have a lovely day. I fear that England have squandered too many opportunities in the test match. Surely Ben Foakes makes the stumping and takes the catch and Stuart Broad why oh why go an inch over the line?

Ah well Everton news looks grim - Kenwright sticking around , Pickford perhaps off to United ( couldn't begrudge him a big move to be honest ) so I guess we just go with the flow. At least Bruce is raising the spirits of so many on here.

You're certainly putting in some hard graft Jazzy. It will look fabulous in a year or so and well worth your effort. I completely agree about Foakes. I thought it was wrong to leave him out. If Australia get any kind of lead, 100 or so runs it is going to be a tough call to beat them.
I need to catch up with Everton. I've been unintentionally ignoring them for the last few days. If we sell Pickford, we are done for. Seriously. He has been instrumental in our survival the last two seasons. And Kenwright staying? Oh dear.

Honest Jazzy I’m staggered by your energy….I’m shattered all the time…..

My lads got me to sign up to Revolute and, this morning, they both sent me a father's day text and a few quid. While I'm grateful for the effort (and the few quid), I'd still prefer the card and the contents than this new way

My lad bought me a Cylindrical Snake plant. With instructions. And a card.

My other lad is in NZ, so will no doubt get a text at some daft hour. Unless they dont do Dads Day down there.

Caring does that to you, believe me. You just dont realise, until there is some relief. (In a good way I mean.)

I think I mentioned that I take my wife to the pub each night, she can socialise and then I take her home when she wants to go after about 45 minutes but sometimes longer. I get to then go back to the pub for a couple of hours and switch off, that is my relief. Then I can come on here and get dogs abuse in the CA for voting Tory while I wind a few of them up…..
