Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning everyone. Looks like another bright day here. I’m off to Lytham Hall today for afternoon tea with the girls I used to work with and calling in for grandma cuddles on the way home - can’t wait.
Have a great Friday 💙

Oohhh lovely enjoy
The thing I miss most is grandad cuddles but one granddaughter in Manchester and two in Auckland means from Andalusia they are a bit scarce

Also @fandjango I was thinking about you the other day after I watched a clip of of Johnny Cash, Kris Kristoffersonand Willie Nelson singing Me and Bobby McGee. There was much excitement in the comments about the fact that Johnny was playing Willie's guitar, Trigger. Nobody gets to play Trigger! So I did a bit research about Trigger - he's had it since the 60s. And that's how I came to think of you - do you still build guitars?

Talking about guitars ( you started it Anj / Fandjango) I read the news today oh boy ( not that there were 4000 holes in Blackburn Lancashire) and George Harrison's guitar is expected to make £700k at auction. I was more surprised that he apparently paid as much as £58 for it back in the fifties, that was an enormous amount of money then.

He bought it in 1959 from Hessys on Stanley St and his mum had to guarantee the HP agreement. Do you remember when that was a thing!!

It's all Klarna now

Wow! If I had a spare £700k I would definitely buy that *puts tonight's Euromillions on*. I remember Hessys. That's a real blast from the past.

We used to accompany my Mum to the local furniture store every week to pay off the HP on our studio couch. Dad considered us to be at the forefront of fashion with a studio couch. Who remembers those?

I remember we got everything on HP.

However our early TV was rented from Redifusion and I think we paid about a pound a week. If my mind isnt playing tricks with me it went into a slot meter behind that TV a bit like electricity meters.

Suspect that Redifusion was a southern company?

A few more blasts from the more recent past. Remember Wade Smith and the Armadillo just around the corner?

Or the Grande Bouf on Castle St?

Our office was opposite Wade Smith ( now Remiss store ) and it was fantastic buzz being in the middle of everything.

Nowadays I'm happy just to be in the middle of nowhere. Sounds like another Beatles record coming on.....He's a real nowhere man.... 😆

The Armadillo was in The Liverpool School of Language, Music, Dream and Pun with the bust of Carl Jung in the wall. Jung had a dream about Liverpool which led to the quote under the bust “Liverpool is the pool of life”.

I loved the Armadillo. As for Wade Smith - my brothers' favourite shop. If you didn't get your trainers from Wade Smith, there was no point going out!
