Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Yes I’m back in the workshop building a ukulele … start small
Also @fandjango I was thinking about you the other day after I watched a clip of of Johnny Cash, Kris Kristoffersonand Willie Nelson singing Me and Bobby McGee. There was much excitement in the comments about the fact that Johnny was playing Willie's guitar, Trigger. Nobody gets to play Trigger! So I did a bit research about Trigger - he's had it since the 60s. And that's how I came to think of you - do you still build guitars?

So our friend is visiting us from Scotland, they use to live here in Calgary they had an Airbnb and a lovely house in a village in Scotland, sadly her husband passed away 18 months ago,

She has made the decision to move back here after 14 yrs, so we have been out with her house hunting, the prices of houses is mental, so glad we bought our house many moons ago

I suppose it’s the same in the UK how do younger people get on with purchasing a home nowadays.

Afternoon guys. Hope you are all well. Sorry I haven't been on much recently but it's been a funny old time for me of late. This week hasn't been much better. Some of you may be aware that I was planning on travelling back up to Liverpool next weekend to see The Last Dinner Party in concert. Well over the last few days there's been a lot of discourse, both in mainstream media and social media, surrounding the large number of solo males over a certain age attending the bands concerts. On social media in particular it's become a bit of a gender battle and all very unsavoury. TBH I was a little bit wary of going anyway as it would be the first concert I've ever attended solo plus I've never been to a concert where the majority of the audience were young females. Anyway after much deliberation I've come to the decision that attending would take me completely out of my comfort zone and yesterday I sold my ticket. But I'm absolutely gutted as I was so looking forward to it. To make matters worse I actually feel a bit of a fraud feeling like this as there's so much crap going in the world right now that it's trivial to get so worked up over something so meaningless by comparison.

The good news is that it's nearly time for G&T Friday and I may treat myself a bit earlier today. I feel as though I deserve it.

Ah mate, I’m so disappointed to read that. What that venue did harassing male punters has hurt the band itself. It was disgusting behaviour.

You aren’t a fraud feeling that way at all. You won’t be the only person questioning whether to go to a gig or not now.

@Gwladysover we had a studio couch although I didn't know that was its name. Very 1970s - black faux leather aka plastic back and some sort of blue tweedy type material that you sat on!
@jazzy we had a slot TV as well. Not sure where it came from but I have heard of Redifusion
Ours was bought in the sixties, bright green and black think the material was called uncut moquette. My parents thought it was the height of sophistication. Our neighbours had a slot TV, think that was from Radio Rentals.

House prices round here are quite expensive coupled with the need for a 10% deposit are getting beyond the reach of most young people.

Oh Fred, so sorry that you will miss the concert. I didn’t know what had been going on so Googled it. It seems like an overreaction by the organisers but if attending would have made you feel uncomfortable I think you have made the right decision. Enjoy your G & T you deserve it - in fact make it a double you can have mine.

As I'm sure Blue will confirm, my G&Ts have at least 3 measures in H. I'm on my second now so getting quite relaxed.

As regards the concert, it isn't just the events at the Lincoln show that worries me. The band have distanced themselves from that and I'm sure that won't be repeated. It was more the social media discourse with young women complaining about creepy old men and stuff. Don't really want to go into detail on here but the thought of being perceived like that quite simply horrifies me.

Whatever happened to going to gigs for the music. Anyway it's done now and I don't regret the decision. I may consider seeing them In the future in a seated venue where you have your own space.

I was playing Tanki on my computer and there was a chat column ,I commented to someone that "You have to realise that many are under 16 on here " the respondent asked my age ,which was around 65 at the time "F**** o** you perve " was the reply ,to this day it haunts me that somewhere on line there a record of this .
You did the right thing Fred ,it was those who instigated it that are at fault .One day they will get their reward .
On the G&T's I thought it was only mine that had that much in it !!!!

I read about that. Really awful behaviour. I completely get why you feel the way you do. Enjoy the G and T x
