2019/20 Moise Kean

....he’s had game time, it really is up to him to force his way into the team. This view that he should be left in the team when he’s not effective is odd when points and cup competitions are up for grabs. Kean started against Watford but was poor, he was substituted at half-time and we went on to win the game. Leave him on the pitch and possibly go out of the cup.

You could almost say the same for any fringe player. We can’t use the Premier League to trial players, they need to impress in training and grab their chance when it arises.
Fair enough Eggs, Kean was having a poor game versus Watford, but being honest, apart from Mina before he went off, which player was having a good game, I can’t think of one in that first half. It was a good job Watford came for a draw and to win on penalties, because they hardly attacked until we scored, then they caused a few problems before we clinched it with the breakaway goal.

Anybody who saw him playing last season will have recognised his talent. He’s 19 , playing in a new league and a new country , so it’ll take time for him to reach his potential - the PL has had a number of young players who didn’t impress first time at a young age but came good , de Bruyne and that guy over at the RS come to mind. The easy thing would be to do a Klassen and cut our losses in January, but the mark of a manager and a club is if you can work with a talented young player to get him playing at the level he is capable of.

How many of them 17 apps (7goals) did you see him play? Playing for the team who that won the league by 11 points despite winning 1 of their last 6 games when they were resting everyone because of the Champs League. You put any player with a modicum of talent and play them in a team that is so much better than the rest of that League, with World Class players, he willl ok. Ronaldo is 34, Dybala was wanting out. Do you really think Juve would let such a talent leave so easy? Juve knew what they were doing. I don't recall clubs fighting for him either, we seemed to have a clear run on him.

Hahaha.

Souness took a swipe, he didn't know anything. Due diligence? This is the same man who signed a player without watching him because he said he was George Weahs cousin, with no proof, and put him straight into a Premier League match day squad. Now he has the audacity to lecture others on why talented young players are signed from 1 of Europe's top clubs.

I know we get called bitter, but everything he said was the hallmark of those actual bitter b*stards across the park.

The lad was late to meeting. Hes been disciplined. Let's not make this something it's not.
Forget Souness, Brands signed this lad. He's been rubbish and undisciplined. A huge outlay for him. Pathetic.

Eh strongly disagree with this. The kid is 19 years old. Does he feel out of place at times? Sure. No one can disagree. But he has shown glimpses of what he can provide with a few runs, ball skills, and pace. Everton hasn't done a good job of getting any of our strikers involved. DCL bagged a few. Tosun has the nack for goal but lacks all of the intangibles. Richy looks the best in the middle only because he is the most gifted of our players. We dont have the quality like Juve has to put the attention on other players since we "play from the back". Lack of ball movement, threat on goal, and overall quality in the midfield at this moment all plays a part in why Kean looks so lost. Could he thrive if we play a fast pace, counterattacking football? Sure. Would he look more comfortable with another striker upfront with a DCL, hold up/target man while Kean brings the pace threat and get in behind attitude? Of course. Until we change that, he will continue to struggle until he gains the confidence. Don't knock Keans ability. Its alot more than being "Rubbish or Undisciplined"...

I hope it clicks for him, we aren't playing great though which doesn't help the forwards. Drips and drabs of game time won't really help him though.

Stuck on the wing. Proper Moyes trick that. Prove your worth in a position you are not familiar with. If you don't, I was right not to pick you.

Occasionaly, It works. With very few players mind, most of whom tend to also be cursed with the jack of all trades tag, and never hold down a proper position.

More rarely, you will find a 1 off adaptable player who is basically your best player wherever/whenever he plays, like Rooney or Arteta. But those really are exceptions.

I also don't agree that one's "chance" should be being thrown in once in a somewhat weakened cup side, which has been the case with a few players recently, including Dowell. Hit the ground running and play brilliantly, and the caveat is that it's a 1 off in a game we should be winning anyway against poor opposition, so proves nothing. Don't pull up any trees and you had your chance but didn't take it.

IIts a culture problem, and Silva is partly responsible for it, by sending out mixed messages. We have players who can't get a look in, as mentioned above, and others who do next to nothing week after week but continue to get games.

But like i say, he is only partly responsible. Part of it is also down to the players. More importantly, the senior players. And in the current squad, due to massive overhaul in players, that is the likes of Coleman, Baines, Schneiderlin and Sigurdsson. Other than Coleman, hardly an inspiring bunch is it?

There doesn't seem to be any real togetherness in this squad, any real "chemistry" as Baines himself said in his underhanded attack on Martinez nearly 4 years ago. He was lauded for that by many, because there was an agenda against the manager and he knew it. And he may have been right, even though as a senior player, he should also have been equally responsible for cultivating the chemistry and camaraderie that was missing. And he's still here. And we still have none.

Watching the Howard Kendall film only hammers home how poor we are in this area, and how difficult a job we have in rectifying it. Taking young players like Kean in and making them feel a part of something would be a good way of starting it. Hopefully the likes of him, Davies, Holgate, Richarlison, etc, can maybe create their own culture instead.

Kean needs to be on time for team meetings and work. Not that difficult. I don't know of any other player silva has left out of the squad for being late so kean must have been the only one turning up late. But he is a teenager and just needs to cop on. I'd be more worried if he wasn't giving 100 percent in training. On the flip side Does he get walcott to play down the middle? Does he get tosun to play out wide? Richardson has experience in both. He didnt buy kean to play him out wide. We have a talent. A club like everton ( whom apart crom us evertonians is not rated as a top club in england or abroad) might not get the chance to sign a talent like kean again so we need to do everything to make it work. Everything as long as he is towing the line.

Our players just forget to turn up on matchday.

I think its just been blown up out of proportion. The lad was late, was dropped and the manager said he responded well. That should be the end of it.

...apparently Kean was often used in the wide attacking position in Italy. He wasn’t asked to be a conventional winger. We should stop making excuses and blaming Silva for his indifferent start. His athleticism (pace, mobility and strength) are exactly what we need, we now need him to exploit those attributes and produce.

We all want him to be a success but it’s up to him.

When you think though, he's had four starts and some posters are already writing him off, astounding.
