Murders in Liverpool.

The war on drugs will never be won. The sensible option would be to legalise and regulate with subsidies put in place to ensure quality.

Drive the dealers out of business by spending the money we already waste tackling a losing battle by fighting the dealers’ system.
I agree with the idea behind your first point.

What will they do though? They are hardly likely to retrain as paramedics etc. I think in the short term at least, violent crime would rocket.

Its everywhere. Just look at the octagenarian on a mobility scooter, murdered in London this week. An adult knifed in Swindon by kids yesterday - for his bike I think.

Society has become horrendously dysfunctional. It started with Maggie telling us there was no such thing as society. Then the tories changed homes into investments ballooning the price. When the youth could no longer afford homes they were put into debt and servitude by charging for higher education.

To gain favour and votes parents were told by the tories that they know better than the trained professionals at schools. Suddenly the sun shone out of every little arse's anal opening and they could not be punished. Excuses were made for every bit of bad behaviour and names were given to conditioned to make bad behaviour acceptable. Budget cuts by tories closed special schools so that extremely badly behaved kids were mixed with those in normal schools who were just holding it together. Bad behaviour spread. The same happened with adult mental health care. Those who need more support and those from whom society need protection now walk among us - to save money, save taxes and protect votes.

Young kids, now adults, with little education, no prospect of an honest living to afford a home, have nothing to lose and everything to gain from crime, in the full knowledge that someone somewhere will make up excuses for them and reduce any punishment. Even if they get jail time they know it'll be shorter than what a judge says because we don't have enough prisons - and they're so comfortable tories can't afford to run them, without raising taxes and losing votes.

Our country is now ruled by accountants following money, apparently saving taxes or moving them to stealth and votes are won from the stupid who believe the billionaire owned press. There is no quality leadership, no orator, no great mind or vision that gets into Westminster anymore - just look at the privileged no-marks contesting to be the next pm. There is no leader strong enough to say enough and go on to blame inadequate parents (lose votes), blame previous governments (lose honours), fund the police and criminal justice system (spend taxes, lose votes), lead by moral example (don't lie, cheat, embezzle - lose personal wealth) and fix it. There are none. Parliament is not about representing your electorate anymore, it is about career politicians in it for themselves.

I despair for the future but without it getting me depressed. I'm 56 and have had good years - knowing I'm nearer death than I am birth means I'm unlikely to see the reality of a mad max future.

Still ... mustn't grumble.
Well said.

I bet the scumbag who murdered the little girl will only get sentenced to 12 years and serve only 6.

On a slightly different note; I hate the solicitors and barristers who do their upmost to mitigate their clients guilt. I just couldn’t do that if knew they were guilty.

Honestly mate, it’s not as easy as you think. I work with the police on a daily basis and some of them will be the first to admit, they are losing the war on drugs. Especially with kids. I’ve seen kids who are dealers, get arrested for drug charges, then within a day or two, another kid as took over. It’s just a cycle that will never change and only going to get worse.

The police are powerless when it comes to drugs and people know it. Unless they are serious dealers, the is nothing they can do.

They do that to make sure a conviction will be secure. And cant be challenged by some loophole a few years later. Ups the prosecution game as well.

as galling as it is to see some of these people being defended, society without those defending would be an equally scary place, it would become state sponsored Lynch mob thuggery. Those defence lawyers are guarding all of our rights and a Roydo says, making sure the authorities do their job thoroughly and properly.

I have a mate who got a rep in the defence world for some awful crimes. The prosecution were always glad he prepared the defence, for some frankly, undefendable prosecutions. (Vids showing kids being raped by multiple family members for example).

But the prosecution would win, knowing they would be utterly secure convictions. My mate was equally happy that his work secured the convictions as well.

If be surprised if they catch him mate. All these gangs are too afraid of being called a ‘grass’ to speak up.

However long it took you to compose this was well worth the effort, I salute you sir.

A scrawny 5ft 7 coward using a gun over what’s bound to be a petty dispute, ironically enough 15 years to the day another little rat did exactly the same thing and killed a child.

Guns and knives in the hands of insecure, weak, little cretins with a ‘hard man’ image. Take a look at any of the gimps sent down on Merseyside over the last couple of decades for gun violence, one thing they’ve all got in common is that they look about as intimidating as a bowl of ice cream.

Absolutely sickened over this.

The "foot soldiers" they use are just dispensable cannon fodder to the "Mr bigs"

God knows what happened, but the killing of a defenceless child knows no bounds

The guy who ran in the house should be done for murder, as should his accomplice who took him to hospital

Life should mean life, not just a tap on the knuckles and see you in a few years

Human rights my .. ..

Society is truly crumbling. The boundaries of what is normally classed as acceptable human behaviour have been obliterated. It’s no coincidence that over here and in the US where we’ve both had/have far right governments in recent years. The Tories have always been horrible, but this current crowd are utterly despicable and their behaviour and justification of awful conduct has trickled down to the masses. It has enabled an army of disgusting and easily influenced people.

As someone who has been away from Wirral for 7 years after being in London, I’m saddened to say that unacceptable behaviour I normally associated with the capital has spread up here.

Large scale civil unrest has been on the cards for a while now, and I believe we’re only just seeing the start of things. There are a variety of reasons for this. The cost of living crisis is one of these factors, and it will deepen hugely in October and it will be a mess.

Is it right to politicise a murder

The idiot who pulled the trigger wouldn't care who was in power. Its all about "Street cred"

Fact is law and order cannot be maintained with an ever increasing population, with an ever reducing budget.

Vigilantes will come to the fore. Pure mayhem
