New Everton Stadium

This is a fantastic opportunity for both EFC and Chang.

Efc have a chance to negogiate naming rights any new ground as well as new sponsership. This will give us massive exposure in the east which falls in line with PL long term business plan. Vice versa, this gives Chang a huge opportunity of their new launch in the western market.....

Well I prefer your positive spin on it than my end of days comment. :)

Need to factor in that Liverpool is only a small city ~500k, and the surrounding areas we are competing with very successful teams- harder to attract local-ish fan area, bar London. I think we would struggle massively to attract an extra 20K. You could fill it will young 'uns but you'd have to give the tickets away. Maybe if we did create a young vocal section that might work, and foster the next gen of die-hard fans.

No it isn't. The Liverpool City Region (forget city boundaries - they are notoriously inconsistent) is anything between 1.5 and 2 million. Other than London the only 2 bigger conurbations are Birmingham and Greater Manchester.

me too, the only way I'd build that size is with a section that can be totally shut off from view unless needed so as to hide away the empty seats.

When folk say we need that then they really do need to look over our attendances since the 60's, there was a thread a while ago on about a game we played at sunderland and the crowd was about 44k, the question was asked when we had last topped it ? I trawled back through stuff on Evertonresults and discounted certain fixtures...

Derby Matches
Bayern Munich
QPR when we won league
A couple of later round cup games

It was about 1972 the last time we'd pulled a bigger crown for a normal game

last time average was over 40k was 74-75

in 84-85 it was 32,131

in 86-87 it was 32,977

last game i can find that is over 45,000 is....

Wed May3 1989

Div 1 the shoite 45,994
which would have been just after Hillsborough

Sat Feb16 1985

FAC 5 H Telford W3-0 47,402 ... they brought about 15k as I remember

All very interesting but irrelevant. Football is much more popular in this country than it was in the 1980's. This is now, that was then as the saying goes. In fact, I suspect crowds were at a low ebb in lots of countries other than England. I remember living in Spain at that time and you could easily buy a ticket at Real Madrid. No chance of that now. Were Arsenal or even Newcastle getting crowds that they get now? No they weren't. You might as well compare the price of a pint then and now. Pointless.
