Players out on loan 2023/24

….he was only loaned out because Dyche and Thelwell were not impressed enough to think they would use him.

Dobbin was the one who impressed so Dyche kept him. If they thought Mills had something to offer he’d still be here but they didn’t.

Which underlines what dinosaurs those two are.

Erm... exactly? Not sure if your agreeing we it's me or against me? 😂

No, because he wouldn't of been given enough game time this season. So let him have a full season at a decent level and then look at giving him some time. It's a good loan for his development.
Not when we have such a thin squad. It was a shocking loan.

Perhaps they rate Mills enough to think he needs regular games to develop his potential rather than warming the bench, and Dobbin is worth a spot on the bench 🤷🏻‍♂️
I’d be more worried if they thought Mills was a regular starter for us right now tbh.
We have Patterson starting for us right now.

Bit of an Andros Townsend special.

that's iwobi's replacement sorted then

Think Mills could be could enough for the squad next season eggs (any others welcome to respond) ?

If Danjuma and Harrison leave then Mills and Dobbin give us two wide squad options. That could mean with McNeil on the left we may only need a new right winger next summer for the wide areas.

….I thought Mills was good enough to be involved this season, Zat. I’ve posted about him for 2 years, he just looks right. I think it’s a really bad sign that he went on loan. I’ve always thought he’d make a terrific RB. We know his dad but his brother is one of the country’s top middle distance runners. He’s a terrific athlete and doesn’t lack for a bit of fire in his belly.

We have a low quality squad and he’s deemed not good enough now, I fear this season was his opportunity.

Holgate on the bench last night after last week's shocker. Didn't help Soton who lost 4-1 at home to Leicester. Southampton are 9th.

Lewis Warrington didn't get on again for Plymouth who lost 2-1 at leaders Preston. Plymouth are 14th.

As mentioned above, Stanley Mills scored a cracker and played 74 minutes as Oxford United won 3-0 at Fleetwood. It was 3-0 when he went off. Oxford are 3rd.

Reece Welch dropped to the bench and didn't get on for Forest Green who lost 2-1 to a stoppage time goal from Doncaster. Forest Green are 21st.

Neil Maupay on the bench for Brentwood who are currently 1-0 down to Newcastle. Let's see if he gets brought on to save the game.

Harry Tyrer's Chesterfield go top with a 1-0 win at Ebbsfleet. Good to see him getting a clean sheet.

A reply will be needed for Zan-Luk Leban's Farsley in the FA Cup after they drew 1-1 at home to Scarborough.

….it’s a matter of judgement and their’s counts. Posters on the youth team thread know how much I like Mills but ultimately it comes down to opinion of the two that matter. I accept that is how the game works.

To be fair, they see players in training every day and not many come back to haunt (Robinson perhaps and I like Gibson at Plymouth). The only chance Mills has is if he tears it up but we saw with Cannon and Liam Walsh that a very successful loan spell rarely means a change of mind at Everton.

The signs aren’t good for Mills as far as Everton is concerned.

Branthwaite went on loan and it was the best thing for him.
It will be the same for Stanley Mills, starting every week in a competitive league. He will be ready to compete in our squad next season

….there’s a big difference between a player going on loan with first team experience and games under his belt for Carlisle than it is for an Academy prospect.

Successful Academy graduates tend to come into the Everton first team squad because the manager wants to use them. Osman, Barkley and Gordon did go out but 2 of those had suffered significant injuries at key stages in their development.

I hoped Mills would be here this season because Dyche wanted access to him. i think it’s a bad sign for the lad’s future with us that he’s gone on loan.
