I do not believe the Monchi deal is dead.

Again, I dont know why PSG would hire someone who's known for his ability to spot unknown young players with potential when they have the budget to buy ready made top international superstars who the average joe could buy for them.

Even if he doesnt come to us, he needs to move somewhere where his talents will be used properly or stay at Sevilla.

....I don't think you can particularly 'groom' somebody for the DoF post. It needs somebody who has an eye for a player, we certainly don't know if the likes of Unsworth is particularly good at that aspect. I'm sure Moshiri will have his best recruitment people identifying those with a proven track record in the transfer market. £100m is a lot to trust somebody with.
I would say that DOF is the last possible position in football that you can groom someone for. It is quite an exotic thing for the British game and the various descriptions that have been on here make it sound a seriously complex role. To have the ability to see a player in the making and then the sheer polish to lead transfer negotiations is quite a skill set. What sells me on the idea is the continuity of the whole thing, the over riding theme of our summer is planning to leave the doldrums and get back to where we belong. The DOF thing is a level of planning that we just haven't had and it adds to this new world feeling that we are all enjoying. I can totally get why Moshiri would throw money at at whomever he sees as the right man to run our transfer policy for the forseeable.
