Possible Director of Football

I would say that DOF is the last possible position in football that you can groom someone for. It is quite an exotic thing for the British game and the various descriptions that have been on here make it sound a seriously complex role. To have the ability to see a player in the making and then the sheer polish to lead transfer negotiations is quite a skill set. What sells me on the idea is the continuity of the whole thing, the over riding theme of our summer is planning to leave the doldrums and get back to where we belong. The DOF thing is a level of planning that we just haven't had and it adds to this new world feeling that we are all enjoying. I can totally get why Moshiri would throw money at at whomever he sees as the right man to run our transfer policy for the forseeable.

...It is really important that the DoF and coach work in a joined-up integrated way.

Agreed. I'm inclined to believe that Koeman has been told who is likely to be working with him before he signed on the dotted line. If Ron is indeed the Barca aspirationalist that we are led to believe then he will make damn sure that nothing blots his copybook now that he is starting to make waves. Koeman really couldn't have been given a better platform to have attracted the Barca's of the world; headhunted to go there, deal changing owner, shiny new home, generous transfer budget. Ron is a clever boy, he wouldn't have taken our job if he wasn't sure that he and the DOF could deliver together. Ron will will have no loyalty to us and you know what? I don't care. If he leaves it's on our terms or else he has succeeded in attracting Barca and we have made serious progress. DOF will be critical to this and Ron wouldn't have signed if he wasn't happy with the likely incumbent.

Our leagues got Manchester City, Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham.

has equivalent of LcFc won in spanish league? not possible in that league to little diversity our league is much easier to do well in than spanish league possibly look at nothing teams like west ham being relegated coming up and getting europa next year ....

Sevilla are a selling club they dont go for league in spanish league... focus on europa as they get more money that way

everton are more likley to win league if we got monchi in English league than sevilla winning spanish league selling their players was point i was making

Understandable when you put it that way.

Monchi would be a big statement far more than getting koeman, we'd walk the league within 3 years if we got monchi

Let's be honest Mike. I'll hold up my hands and say I'd never heard of Monchi until Liverpool played them in the final. I think the majority of people on here are in the same boat.

Did you spot him years ago or have only just found out about him?

I had heard of Monster Munch though, does that count?

You (and a lot of other people) may not have heard of him but it would still be a statement that would make people sit up and take notice. Read the comments here from when it came out that he wanted to leave Seville and you'll get an idea of how he's seen in the football world
