Proposed changes to the Premier league

I think you're a tad naive, if you don't think Celtic and Rangers, playing in the PL would not have enormous pull. I'd go as far as to say I don't think any teams games would be "miles ahead" of them.

Outside the UK&I? Not so sure; would be significant, but outside the Glasgow derby (no longer old firm to many) I don't think it would be anywhere near the realms of say Arsenal or Chelsea, never mind the other two.

Rangers and Celtic, especially in the PL are miles miles bigger than Arsenal and Chelsea mate. In truth they are probably bigger than United and Liverpool too. The support both would garner in England, Ireland and North America would be huge. Chelsea are not even close to being comparable.

The two clubs leading this are franchises the soul of the club's have gone ,passionate homegrown fans are a minority at their games. One of them has won the premier league once and now thinks their too big for it what a joke

Good riddance to them all.

Just make it clear to them that there’s no pathway back to the premier league if it fails.

It will take some getting used to and there will be less money floating about but the premier league will carry on regardless.

I don’t get the Rangers and Celtic shouts personally mate. In terms of popularity you can usually deem what clubs have a massive following and are considered bigger by their clubs official social media accounts, Crystal Palace and Southampton have much greater following on all of their social media accounts than all of the clubs in Scotland.

Outside of Ireland and Scotland their ‘support’ based on those figures doesn’t appear to make them as massive as people say they are.

Obviously we can’t just define that one aspect but I’d say their support is not on a grand scale that many make out.

While I'm with you in terms of sentiment & agree with you, I dont think Social Media is a fair proxy for command of viewing figures. You have to take into account the volume of mechanics the PL has to encourage Social media following. Fantasy football for example

I saw a Liverpool supporting journalist make 2 very good point with this.

1) Has anyone actually gone out and seen if there is any interest for this product. As whenever it is mooted, the reaction seems overwhelmingly negative. Thats before the glib realities of what it means occur.

2) Teams such as Liverpool have made the argument that its they, not West Brom or Burnley who bring the revenue in. But if they enter this league, the majority of the teams will become West Brom, Burnley etc. What occurs then? How is it decided how many gets handed out?
This is nothing more than both sets of American owners taking Parrys advice, that’s literally it.

But as with their last embarrassment they’ve yet again failed to read the room. They’re utterly clueless and completely cack handed

If this league gets the go ahead, it will kill the aspirations of hopes of all fans who hope one day to see their side dine at the top table (playing in the champions league) not ones who have been selected to sit there for the next 20 years come what may. My other major concern is that you’ve heard Rodgers at Leicester, Nuno at wolves and Ancelloti who have expressed their dreams of leading their clubs into the champions league. More worryingly, it might make the owners of these clubs think what is the point?

Pretty much spot on this .
I think some folks are pandering to the narritive the Prem is nothing without Lfc & Manu .
In fact if and its a big if the 2 Glasgow clubs came in it would allow traditionally Big clubs likeSpurs, Villa , Leeds & Ourselves to flourish .
Possibly seeing a much fairer playing field for upto even 8 to 10 teams having a chance to be Champions.
The support from overseas esp America would be just as good and the fans in the UK I would be sure would fully be behind it with the full grounds we saw pre covid.
It really wouldnt be the end of football.

If they are bluffing, and concrete funding isnt in place, they're going to look really stupid.

Definitely not the end of football, but I would love to see someone show some figures to validate they hypothesis that they would be "miles bigger" worldwide, having lived locally, in Dublin, London & the states anecdotally I'm not seeing it
