The narrative hasn't changed at all mate - we know those players are average but I would rather Gomes as an option off the bench than Oyango who's wet behind the ears and has just come back from a bad injury.

Its a complete lack of options.

Nah mate, it's because IMO pointing out we have '8 players' missing is just another ploy to try and heighten the defence of Benitez, when we had Davies available and Benitez played him then playing him was used in defence of Benitez because Davies was crap but he had no choice but to play him.

I think there's a real risk that Benitez takes us down unless he gets his head out of his arse.

But instead he's doing what fans are doing: 'we have injuries', 'wait until the second half of the season'

It's okay if fans say that, they're fans. This is the manager of the football club, saying 'let's wait a few months'? Why? What's gonna happen then? Dom is back and has to play every game every 3 days and then someone else goes and gets injured?
The supporters that are saying it are being reasonable but I don’t think Benitez is making it okay for his players to lose games though.

Pickford

Coleman
- Keane - Godfrey - Digne

Onyango
- Allan - Delph

Dobbin - Richarlison - Gordon

Don't get me wrong - this is a very experimental lineup, but given the current situation would this be that much worse than what we've being seeing? at least it would give the young lads minutes..

How can you make this comment?

Unless it actually happens, how do you know what tactics Benitez would play with? What players he'd sign? What Formation?

Give him a chance to build a squad, implement his tactics, otherwise are we not just stuck in the same endless cycle?
He has implemented his tactic's and his formation, those won't change when we get player's back from injury. Commentators described his tactics at Newcastle as anti football during our game at City on Sunday. He has brought those tactics here and implemented them and won't be changing. All the while guys who would die to defend the school of science mantra also go out of their way to defend the absolute [Poor language removed] he is serving up. What is it going to take for people to realise that what your watching now won't ever change? The names might but the tactics and formation never ever will. This is what we now are, we are an anti football side, we don't want the ball, we don't play passes, we just want to hope we can luck box our way into grabbing a goal on the brake and then hang on for dear life. His thinking has never moved on, he is stuck ten years in the past and we are going to pay a heavy heavy price for it if we don't sort it very soon

Injuries are part of the game, Lewin could come back, play 3 games then get injured, does that then mean Benitez gets a free pass again in the eyes of his acolytes.

I'm counting QPR, just as I counted Huddersfield at the start of the season.

So could be seen as 2 wins in 10. Or lost 6 out of 10 in all competitions. And 1 loss was via penalties. So a draw in 90mins makes 5 losses in regulation time in 10. So 50% loss.

Or we go from our last win against Norwich which is 1 win in 7. 4 losses. 2 draws. 1 win.

Stats are stats.

Pure hysteria.

Of course, when you are the manager of Newcastle, and you have a pretty shitty team, then you have to make the best of what you have. It's no secret that the easiest thing in football is to defend yourself. But when he was in Naples, he was accused of being too offensive. His team set scoring records, and had one of the best offensive statistics in Serie A.

Tbf, a large proportion of blues think he is offensive here too. ?

Absolute state of that side - literally a Championship starting 11 minus Pickford, Digne and Allan.

And people expect us to rock up to fellow PL sides away from home and get the 3 points with a click of the finger lol

bu bu bu its all Benitez's fault doh!

Blue Geordies - its what we've become.

@Saint Domingo
Ignoring Townsend being a "championship player" but it's three less championship players than the team we are about to face...

Quick point to illustrate your example. When Conte took over at Chelsea he pushed his players to sprint more and then used the reaction of the crowd to drill his point home at training. Paraphrasing, but something like "you heard how the crowd wanted you to play, so that's how you play."

It's a shame Conte isn't here because he could use the crowd telling Iwobi to F-off to illustrate the same point.

The crowd will never get behind the manager and that was why this appointment was such a strange one. If you're the chairman, director of football and there is a chance that the money isn't going to be there to back your new guy then you go with someone who will at least have some goodwill from the crowd.

Moshiri, Brands, Benitez they can all do one.
THIS 100%

Liverpool and Arsenal failed to beat Brentford away from home and both are miles ahead of us.

I keep saying it but our fans are still stuck in the time of Moyes when we were comfortably 7th (best of the rest) and anyone below us we would give a good slap to 9 times out of 10.

The league is totally different now and mindsets have to start changing otherwise our fans are never going to be level headed.

Man City beat Chelsea then lost at home to Palace.

Utd beat Spurs 3-0 then lost 4-1 to Watford.

Thats the PL now like it or not! We have no divine right to go away from home to Brentford with players like Iwobi, Rondon, Delph, Coleman, Allan, Townie & Keane & Gordon and expect 3 points.
