Referees v Everton

Carragher and Sounness disagree with you.

Makes me laugh what Carragher gets away with. Continually sowing the seed about Richarlison going down and now starting on Gordon. However, he never once commented when Saurez, Salah and Mane were doing it.

Yesterday when Richarlison was on the floor he was screaming like a banshee on commentary to get up. He's meant to be a professional commentator not a fan.

It is called looking for evidence. Supporters of all teams are adamant that their team is hard done by and don't get decisions.

Not your lot though because you get all the decisions every match. In fact your entitlement goes so far that this season you were moaning about decisions given correctly in favour of City v Arsenal, and you also moaned about the correct sending off of Robertson when he booted a Spurs player. That’s the environment you exist in now though where you’ve had everything go your way game after game year after year that you truly believe every single decision, right or wrong, should just go the way you want it to and if it doesn’t it’s time for a media inquest.

We had the same referee who denied us the hand ball decision v City at home as yesterday failed to take it to VAR ...,.. absolutely currupt - teams media & officials doing their best now through our fault being in that vulnerable relegation zone ......

We've had two clear penalties turned down against the two best teams in the league, at important stages of the matches. The evidence is there unless you want to completely ignore it. The big team bias is very real. The decisions are inexplicable in the age of video replays.

I'm happy to admit I've seen as much bias towards City this season as Liverpool as well. The bias has been ridiculous this season. For a one off poor decision, the Rodri handball was the worst I've seen this season. And what was done... absolutely nothing. The ref was in charge of another PL game the following Tuesday night.

In the last 5 seasons including this season Liverpool have received 31 penalties, We have received 25.

Given the difference in touches in the opposition box I think we have done pretty well.
This season: Liverpool haven’t conceded a penalty so far. Lowest in the league.

2020/21: in a record-high season for penalties awarded, Liverpool gave away 8 penalties. More importantly, Liverpool were out of the title race early in the season.

2019/20: Liverpool gave away 1 penalty. League lowest.

2018/19: Liverpool gave away 1 penalty. League lowest.

Hmm. No big team bias for a club fighting for a league title, eh. Outside of one freak season when VAR went mad, they’ve given away 2 penalties in near 3 seasons. Wow.

The thing I dont get, and maybe I dont now the VAR rules or convention, and the 2nd pen shout was not immediately obvious, imo.

So why, when the ref said No, there was no review, or if there was, it was done in a few seconds, which would contradict my 1st para. As in, they either didnt review it, (why not?) or it was an obvious non pen. (It wasnt).

Pretend about what? I'm not blaming the ref for our sh.it.ness.
The foul on Gordon in the first 5 mins was the wrong decision by Atwell but he got most everything else correct. I know that's not a popular opinion. So be it.
It's not a popular opinion because it's bulls***

City and Liverpool have swept all before them and spend the majority of their games camped in the opposition final third. They have had 8 penalties each and we have had 6.

The trouble is, is that lots of these penalty decisions are quite subjective. And with the clear and obvious error VAR bar, ones like the one in the second half are unlikely to be overturned. Sickening yesterday? Yes, but I suppose that’s opinions for you.

what I want is VAR to actually do something about the absurd errors like the Rodri handball. And they aren’t.

I've already answered this point. It's not about what is given, but what isn't given, and it's not just penalties.

If you want to argue the Liverpool and City incidents were not penalties, then go ahead.
