Referees v Everton

The issue is that Gordon moved to the right whilst the ball was going to the left. So he isn't trying to get in a goalscoring position because you need the ball to do that. We all know what he was trying to do. That is why we have an issue with simulation and have had 6 bookings for it this season.

Six bookings out of 12 in the whole Premier League. I mean we have fans trying to defend Gordon getting booked for an outrageous dive in the first half.

The worst thing is writing to PGMOL and highlighting the issue. Given the number of times our players went to ground with no contact or minimal contact at the weekend. The last thing we should want is Referees looking at a tape of the match. I mean what will they make of Richarlison for instance heading the ball away and then going down feigning a head injury.
The issue is you seem to be singling out Gordon as if he is the only player ever to have done this. It probably happens every game, all over the pitch. If you can get your body in between the player and the ball and induce a foul, well played.

Just to humour you, even if we do dive a disproportionate amount compared to other teams, getting 50% of all the bookings over 700+ games is a complete statistical anomaly, it is frankly insane and I don't have a good explanation for it. You saying, ye but Gordon did dive is a terrible explanation because every team has a player that dives.

The fact that Mane didn't get sent off sums it up for me. A raised hand to the face is a red card all day long and has been for years now. He did it twice in 30 seconds and only got a booking, that is pretty much the most obvious example of a clear and obvious mistake that needs looking at by VAR as you will ever see.

Is there any figures in terms of profitability for the PL when it's a 2 horse race and goes to the wire compared to if its done and dusted with 10/12 games to go etc?

Just in terms of refs who work for the PL wanting to keep the competition going to the final game etc.

When it happens the first time or on the odd occasion you can just about accept it. But it’s almost every game you play you get the rough end of decisions that aren’t even close to be correct.

Let me tell you what we’d do if it happened to us as often as it’s happening to Everton…… perhaps not ? seriously we have had it for decades- funnily enough except when we played you in the FA Cup where we got most of the decisions. I think that has to confirm the conspiracy theory if you’re on the wrong end of decisions against us!

Havent really read this thread to much. Ive taken it as a given now. For many years aswell.

If you are old enough to remember stuff like pat nevin getting his legs chopped in a cup game at anfield and trevor brooking calling it the most blatant penalty he'd ever seen. Neil midgley(ref) gave him a yellow card for diving ?

Or wayne clarkes perfectly good header to win the game at anfield, chalked off because i think he had the audacity to head a winning goal, breath, move, fart, fck knows.

It aint nothing new.

I was telling my lad about that Nevin was last night.

Absolutely criminal not to be given that pen. Can anyone find that footage? I think it was FA CUP 1991 5th round, 1st game of 3 (0-0, 4-4 and 1-0) at Anfield and finished 0-0

Memory is fading, but was that the game that lead to the 4-4 replay?
