Roberto Martinez discussion

We're now RAWKerton mate. Nothing negative about Martinez may be uttered no matter whether you are behind the manager and agree with his placement or not.

The rest of it is just a mishmash of topics like who is allowed an opinion, Moyes being a terrible manager, fans wearing masks and Duncan Ferguson being given a mention for nostalgic reasons.

Personally I think the good people of GOT are broken by the sudden change after 11 years of similarity.. We are a large transfer budget from a full global EFC fan base implosion.

Could be ...or could be most wanna give RM the warm welcome Moyes enjoyed to encourage the lad and make him feel part and parcel and not on trial before a ball is kicked.

Don't recall any talk of masks 11 years ago.

Bit weird that mate as a post.

just realised our manager has won more while managing in Europe than the managers of the top two teams in the country. on this basis is he allowed a couple seasons to see what happens. Moyes and Pellegrini better buck up

I dont get that. How is asking people to have an open mind about their new manager in any way RAWKish?

There's no mad eyed cultists talking up Martinez...as much, it appears, as you'd like there to be.

How is denying there are doubts or negatives an open mind? You keep using that like its true but you're far more closed minded about him than I am. Open minded involves the discussion of both good and bad surely? Failing to do so and just ranting at every slightly negative comment is where the RAWK comment comes from.

Martinez has my full support, I just wish we were allowed to talk about him like someone we know a little bit about, and who has shown positives AND negatives in the past, instead of acting like he has done nothing but great things.

I am not casting any shadows of rejection, I am not saying he's a bad manager, not saying don't get behind him, that the bad points don't have reasons, I'm not even failing to point out the good points either, I constantly do.. yet the responses to every post that mentions even a slight negative are both numerous and very head in the sand.

I mention things like he's had a minimal squad so its been difficult but he still got relegated which is not a good thing, then go on to say something like I still think he's the right man, I'm looking forward to it and the relegation is overshadowed by the amazing cup win, and people start ranting about me not giving him a chance, Moyes lover, get behind him ffs, lets wait till we've kicked a ball before condemning him blah blah..

He's going to get plenty of chance and I doubt he reads GOT and if he does, he should know that we want him to do well, and we all want him to make the step up from relegated Wigan to 6th placed Everton, and make us better and more attractive whilst he's here, and if he fails then as long as you do he's done his best then that's good enough for us... but all many on here will have read so far is the word relegation and be seething at my contempt for the man.

I'm excited by the appointment, I think he's bringing optimism and a breath of fresh air to stale club, roll on the games is all I can say.

Tell you what, since I am upsetting people despite being very pro Martinez, by having a couple of doubts about the future.. I will refrain from posting anything negative and join the herd, I've had enough ****ty comments mistaking me for pessimistic to be honest, if no one wants to talk about negatives then lets not.

It seems to me you're misinterpreting all this.

People are merely countering your view of having reservations with their own point of view which tries to underline the shaky basis for those reservations - it's not you being told you cant question the appointment, it's just debate. That's all there is to it as far as I can see. The attempts to portray that as a RAWK-style fatwah on anything critical is fanciful to say the least.

im not wearing any mask. Everythin ive seen, read, and heard from Martinez just strikes me as a poorer, less ambitious version of Moyes

we don't need your stinking masks. everything? you do know someone might pick you up on this. just warning you. personally a less ambitious version of Moyes is what I was hoping for so we don't get couple of years of a manager whose head is in another job

That's like, the complete opposite of reality. Moyes always talked about reaching 40 points first. Martinez is talking about getting into the Champions League.

What ACTUAL THINGS that Martinez has said makes you think he's an 'inferior version of Moyes'?

Because everyone I know has been impressed by him so far. He's saying all the right things - how big a club we are, Jags a great captain, keeping Baines, developing youth, etc etc.

It just appears some people have made their minds up about Martinez and will ignore reality to the bitter end, and are just looking for something negative to latch on to.

Can't wait for his first signing for the negative nellies to start moaning about before they've even kicked a ball for us.

Let's have it right: Martinez hasn't got a whole lot to 'live up to'. Moyes brought us zero success. he made us solid.

The bar is set no higher than that.

correct, I have no idea why some on here hero worship him. Bog standard manager who played sh1te football for the majority of his time boring us to death.

No.. its not.

Ah ****thebed, a ball hasn't been kicked in anger and its doom and gloom. He's in the hot seat, like or not, all we can do now is judge him by what happens at Everton on his watch. I don't think angsting helps.

Im still wearing this mask.
