Any advice for beginners? I ran casually in college but it has been about a decade. 29yo female and relatively healthy, thinking of trying couch to 5k if anyone has experience.

Well done mate, that sounds like a tough course and conditions.View attachment 252675
Second race of the year - Lakeland Trails Hawkshead 16K.
Pretty brutal conditions, the cloud had dropped, driving wind and rain, with mud all over the entire course, like I’ve only ever seen at a Tough Mudder.
Despite only being relatively short at just over 10 miles, the mud and the weather made it a real slog.

Well done , 2 miles is a good distance if you haven’t run for a long time . Now next time ……..Just done my first run (kind of) in a long time. It started off as a supposed 5 mile walk but I felt good after about 3 miles so thought “I know , I’ll run home” … felt satisfying but I know I’ll suffer tomorrow

To be honest, I’m regretting it this morning . I always do stupid things like this, keep thinking I can do the same things I done 20 years ago… just maybe a little slower. But this morning even my finger nails are hurting I’m gonna have to go for another run this evening through this pain.. just to try and ease the pain…. If you run you’ll know what I mean by thatseriously though, I'm younger than you and don't smoke and what I'd give to run 2 miles without breaks every half mile. nice one and be consistent and see what kind of improvement you see.
Have you ever done the lowther run?View attachment 249012
First race of the year - Pennine Trails Leighton Hall Half Marathon.
I was flying for the first nine miles and then hit ankle deep mud for the last five miles, which slowed things down a tad
@Bilbo your neck of the woods sir ?
Did my first trail race today, only 10km but was pretty fun and I came 12th
One of the organisers was walking around telling people how dry the course now in, 5 mins in there was a massive mud bath and people were fuming lol
Was about to sign up to their 10 mile or even their 20 mile, which is more my race length but I'm in bloody Disneyland
