Running

Any advice for beginners? I ran casually in college but it has been about a decade. 29yo female and relatively healthy, thinking of trying couch to 5k if anyone has experience.

Couch to five is an excellent starting point.

Get yourself proper running shoes, rather than something from the likes of Sports Direct.

If you can, go to a running shop, as they’ll find a pair that fit properly.

A lot of makes size differently than your regular shoes - usually smaller, so you may need to go up 1/2 or even a full size.

I find setting a goal has been really helpful for me
Couch to 5k is a great starting point
Be consistent, but take days off when your body suggests you need a rest
Training in a group can be a good way to get started; there's nothing better than a good running buddy if you can find one
No idea how to recommend running routes for women; running is safe the the world is/feels more dangerous than it used to be, so be safe running
Few things as good as running when you are in running shape, get outside and and enjoy it

Second race of the year - Lakeland Trails Hawkshead 16K.

Pretty brutal conditions, the cloud had dropped, driving wind and rain, with mud all over the entire course, like I’ve only ever seen at a Tough Mudder.

Despite only being relatively short at just over 10 miles, the mud and the weather made it a real slog.
Well done mate, that sounds like a tough course and conditions.

Did my first trail race today, only 10km but was pretty fun and I came 12th

One of the organisers was walking around telling people how dry the course now in, 5 mins in there was a massive mud bath and people were fuming lol

Was about to sign up to their 10 mile or even their 20 mile, which is more my race length but I'm in bloody Disneyland

seriously though, I'm younger than you and don't smoke and what I'd give to run 2 miles without breaks every half mile. nice one and be consistent and see what kind of improvement you see.
To be honest, I’m regretting it this morning 😂. I always do stupid things like this, keep thinking I can do the same things I done 20 years ago… just maybe a little slower. But this morning even my finger nails are hurting 😂😂 I’m gonna have to go for another run this evening through this pain.. just to try and ease the pain…. If you run you’ll know what I mean by that 😂😂
