2023/24 Sean Dyche

There is no stat to rule them all to be honest and I've looked at a few, i like XG more macro then micro i.e. i don't like it judging individual players, put in judging team outcomes it tends to be more indicative of trends then not

Ours is far too high not to come home with more goals to be honest. You are right in the sense you make your own luck - but did we make our own luck yesterday or did Sa.... The other thing is the law of probability, sometimes its just turned on its head - Fulham and Wolves are an example one side not scoring and the opposite side was Brighton last year with a lower XG, you have to allow for the chaos of probability.

As far Dyche, what can he change - is it tactics no - we've done the possession thing with Lampard, the Counter thing with Benitiez, the block thing with Carlo. I dont think the issue is the method. Do we play with an incisive playmaker - like Maddison - we dont have one.

Honestly dont beleive results are down to the manager, i think we've been terribly unlucky, via not being far of administration and not being able to give him - or other manager who comes in the tools at the right time to do the job. In the midst of that there are 8 players waiting to come who i mentioned in my last post in or bed in to influence in attacking areas - 8 players!!!!

Does a change improve things for us? No. Does patience, yes.

We've changed manager what 4 times in 24 months - have we gotten better or worse. last thing we need is another reboot, if we do it we will go down.
I agree with a lot of what you’ve posted. But in my opinion the tactics coming from this manager, in particular the defensive shape without the ball has contributed to the goals conceded, ie the midfield pressing high and the defence, back 4 being so narrow, especially at Villa park. Also the marking at corners against Villa was very strange, leaving players unmarked at the edge of the box, repeatedly. I think everyone knows that there are a number of players missing through injury and the squad is thin/threadbare and I’d think that the majority of fans understand that the manager can’t put out a well balanced, first choice starting 11, with no players playing out of position etc. So I think there was leeway for the team to be more compact, no need for the high press, especially away from home. Let the C/F and Doucoure press the opposition backline until they get into Everton’s half. That wouldn’t been my approach. But Dyche choose to be more open, which, at home is understandable to an extent. With hindsight, the wrong choice though.

Have to chuckle at the narrative that somehow Burnley and Kompany have eclipsed his achievements there. They're in the crap too this season.

It doesn't really matter in truth, it's what he does at Everton that concerns me. Which may not be much. Or last long.

…I think there’s a bit of snobbery involved with posters not wanting Dyche. We’ve seen the stereotyping, ‘he doesn’t play youngsters’, ‘Keane is his pet love’, ‘players have to be Dyche fit’, yet yesterday he started Dobbin and Branthwaite, left Keane out and gave Chermiti a run.

A few myths bust.

i don’t mind him. i want to see Everton carrying threat, it’s important for me. I see that but we really lack quality in the final third and fail to exploit favourable situations we find ourselves in.

I get there are lots who have never wanted Dyche associated with the club but I think his situation should be assessed after 10 games as it’s usually a good benchmark in a season. When a club is a mess off the pitch it will ultimately manifest itself on the pitch and more managerial turmoil is the last thing the madhouse needs at the moment.
If he loses against Doncaster and SU he’s gone

It's not the manager, it's not the DoF, we've got better players than a year ago, why are we so rubbish then, Neil?
Because the current narrative is that ,despite 3 straight defeats and having no goals to go with our zero points, two games have been moral victories 😆
And the manager who so many championed as the only manager who could do anything with our ‘Championship ‘ level squad now apparently can’t do anything until we buy better players for him.
He’s a moving target of failure at the moment .

He never changes anything, just has the same tactics from corners, set pieces, when we attack we always aim to go to wings instead of playing through the middle, the amount of times the new lad made some excellent runs yesterday but the midfield didn't see it???
We are very predicable when we attack

I dont know what he does to the players at HT, but whenever they come out after the break its like hes bored them to sleep.

Hes a very bad manager and people will only realise it when he leaves.

Till then.

In Sean We Trust.

As soon as it went to half time at 0-0 I think we all knew what was going to happen. Same with Fulham.
