This was definitely not on Dyche. We were looking really likely to score and Fullham score a complete fluke of a goal to turn the momentum. We still came back and should have won in penalties if not for a poor penalty from Onana. We looked gassed so I’m not too bothered. We gave it a good go.
I see you haven't had a drink tonight ;) Sense 👍

People always say pens are lotteries, I heard it today at the ground. They aren’t really though, the teams with winning mentalities win them a lot and clubs like us used to losing more than we win, generally lose them.

How many shootouts have we actually won? In last 25 years I can only think on Man U Semi and Newcastle in this cup.

Says it all: losers

Yup, as if the Germans winning the vast majority of their penalty shoot outs is "luck".

It's a combination of technique and mentality - and we are regularly found wanting on those grounds.

The Gueye for Beto change.

Yeno, a lad who offers nothing going forward for a lad who does.

And to let our best ball player actually get on the ball and not just act as Mo Farah for the game.
Is this about James Garner? Because he's not our best ball player as much as people like to think he is. He showed that when he had the ball tonight.

And d'you remember the last time Everton went 442 with Garner and Onana in midfield and Beto and Dom up top?

The fella was intent on playing long, it's all we did tonight.

Give DCL someone to feed if we're doing that, that's all I wanted. We were producing barely anything down the wings.

All the penalties were good up to Onana. Then Tarks hit a nice one down the middle.

There were saveable ones for Pickford imo, couple went right through him.

Was there no VAR used in this as both keepers were off the line when kick was struck for the actual saves and we've seen in previous shootouts that has been noticed and kicks re-taken so surprised me those were just ignored.

No VAR in the League Cup, I believe.

Beat Chelsea away in the FA Cup, I remember nearly fainting as they described it on Sky Sports as we always lose shootouts

Dyche had a massive opportunity tonight and we stuck playing hoofball for 90+ minutes and it didn`t work, unfortunately that is the limitations of working with a manager like Dyche. We won`t ever win anything with Dyche, he isn`t capable of winning trophies, he might get us to the verge of Europe maybe but I think that is his limit.

Fulham were there for the taking and he got the style of play completely wrong, the CBs of Fulham dealt so easily with the long balls.
