2024/25 Sean Dyche

Do you remember pre season and it was all about fitness, he said he'd done enough pre-seasons to know what he's doing...Then can never win a game in August. I think something may be wrong Dychey with your pre season work and subsequent friendlies.

Unfortunately those types of pre season are a thing of the past, players come back already fit, they need tuning and then tactical stuff. Higher quality opposition. the likes of Salford teach us or him nothing.
Agree he is so so outdated and it suits the club because they struggle with actually wanting to improve too

If you were Potter would you take this job when you know you could get a prem side? I think not.
Yes I would and I will tell you why.

With the exception of the RS , Arsenal ,City , United , Spurs and Newcastle there is no club in this country with greater potential ( and I've deliberately excluded the likes of Wham , Chelsea , Brighton etc ).

If Potter goes into Everton when they are at their nadir and he gets a free hand to transform it that would be his best chance of achieving managerial greatness.

Sadly we aren't set up for a Potter to succeed right now. We need someone who is a stronger personality who can get the team playing football

He will waffle on about his PL experience

I have never known a manager who is so bad at using subs they are either too late or like for like or as you say he leaves the same 11 on. Our back four was creaking Saturday our midfield was knackered you had to get O'Brien on or Garner in midfield or even get Young on to cover a wing, but no in 2024 when you can make five subs he thinks the same 11 or Beto and Doucoure two of our worst at holding onto the ball, should see it out, absolutely prehistoric management. This next block of fixtures could be brutal he needs results from Leicester and Palace at least or he is sacked, people saying we can't afford to sack him and who would do it, well we can't afford to be rooted to the bottom of the table after six or seven games either.
Substitutions are becoming more important. You can effectively bring on a new front 5 for the last 30 minutes if you want. It's a real chance to introduce attacking energy which we never do. I appreciate we don't necessarily have the players but I think the substitution approach (amongst other things) is behind the times.

@Marius57 can you quote that post what he said at the start of last season about the subs.

@billyblue80 read it and it'll all make sense on why he's so poor at making changes. Burnley fans came in here and told us he's dreadful at it. He'll always select the same 11 and do his utmost not to sway from them.
Was a quote from the echo in March 2023 (6 weeks after he signed for us as was being criticised already for his subs use).
He doesn’t believe subs are effective. And it ultimately makes no difference what the other team does tactically or how many subs they make.

If the team is operating in the manner that I think is right, other than fatigue or injury of course, then I don’t tinker too much. My stats and the facts on that have paid me back. I believe in a way of working and unless someone is particularly off-colour, or there might be an injury reason, or just a fatigue reason, I often leave the side alone if I think it is operating in the right way”

This is a quote from him last August when we also started crap;
I could have taken the whole team off at half time”
yet at half time, he made 1 sub.

They don't need to sack him .can they afford to put him and his 2 hapless coaches on gardening leave for 9 months and employ another manager and coach in that period?

I suspect that even Everton's finances stretch that far.

Come on, mate. Does this ever happen ever at any top level football club?

Btw, doesn't gardening leave mean they're still on payroll? So they're still paying out the rest of the contract? Which is the same as sacking? Dyche will be on at least 6 mil a year, so we'd be paying the majority of that plus his staff. Would probably be about 10 mil all in.

That's the same line of thinking as when people say "just terminate his contract!" for deadwood like Keane and Holgate. It just never happens, so I don't know why people waste their breath saying it.

No from a cash flow point of view it is much more palatable than a sacking and lump sum payment.
