At least lie and tell me you enjoyed it
It was great, very insightful. I especially like the bit about the Evertons and the footballs

Good points. Maybe we should think if new stadium should be named in a way that we can repair this problem-if it is a problem-. ../Liverpool Waters Stadium. ....or Blue Mersey Stadium or something like that
As far as marketing goes then being known to be from Liverpool makes little to no difference. Athletico Madrid do not have anything like the fanbase of Real Madrid. Being from London does not bestow the global renown of Chelsea or Arsenal on Barnet or West Ham.
Liverpool as a city is definitely famous enough that I'd think Everton would want to strengthen their association too. But whether the liverbird as a symbol on its own is famous enough to trigger that association in people's minds outside this country, and then bestow any financial/marketing advantage to Everton as a result, I don't know. I'm sceptical.
I'm not particularly arsed about the commercial aspect. It's the symbol of the city that I don't think should be solely associated with them lot. This guy explains everything.
Worldwide, you'd get more traction marketing the club by strutting out four players walking past the Abbey Road zebra crossing than anything else.
They beat us to that one
*cringe at their lack of shame
Oh hell...look at them.
Lets not do a thing...yea..Thats a great idea.
wait a minute. ..I agree.
This. I've lived in Spain for 23 years and I'm convinced that if I asked every Spanish football fan what the bird on Liverpool's badge symbolised, they wouldn't have a clue*Unless the club wants to pass up £100m+ in naming rights (and it won't), the stadium will be named after a sponsor. You've just got to hope it's not something too goofy.
Love it!
lollollol
West Ham are trying so hard with the London stuff, bless 'em, their new badge looks like something you'd find in Pro-Evo. But actually, it is a fact all London clubs want to make that association clearer. I've seen "TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR - LONDON" on our advertising hoardings during televised European games before and I'm sure I've seen Arse*** and Chelsea do similar. QPR added "London" to their badge a few years ago as well. So obviously there must be some advantage in trying to strengthen the association between the club with the city, particularly for people watching abroad.

If Real Madrid changed their badge to include a bear and a tree, to address the same issue being discussed here re the Liver Birds, you reckon anyone would care in the slightest? So I fail to see why us sticking a bird on our badge would make a blind bit of difference to our fate and fortune.This. I must also add that while most of the fans here know the name of Everton a lot of them don't know we're based in Liverpool.
*As I typed the word 'clue' I did realise that the question itself would be rather leading. Given that local symbols are common on club badges
eg. The bear and the tree on Atletico Madrid's badge (a famous statue in Madrid) and the tree of Guernika on Athletic Bilbao's badge (supposedly the only thing standing after the bombing in the civil war).
So, I suppose with a leading question such as I suggested above, some might make an educated guess.

Agreed, and I don't think there's much more to say on the matter. No I don't.
I'm not advocating us using the liver bird. I don't think any symbol on any badge makes an impact or is even recognised outside national fronteers. And I'm sure everyone in England knows Everton more than they know the liver bird.
Ok thats your take on this matter concerning 'outsiders' but what about people inside national fronteers? No I don't.
