Yeah these "NAS" , No Age Statement ,themes are becoming more widespread, perhaps understandable for Glenglassaugh as they need to bring in new revenue early to balance their old stock. I guess it will be between 3 -7 years old . Not a great fan of peated malt , though I always have a bottle of Lagavulin in on the basis that if visitors like peated whisky it blows all the others out of the water.would be interested on your thoughts on Torfa, just enjoy don't be put off by age.

I'll be honest with you, I only bought it because my daughters middle name is Torfar and it's just too close to not try!! I'll let you know tomorrow

Which Bunnahabhain bottle are you all loving so much as the bottle we tried here was nice but not up to the Oban.
Which is 'the best'?

I'd say Bunnahabhain 40? I've only tasted 12 and 18, as the rest (24, 40) were too expensive...

Edit: 40 is/was a limited edition and it would cost a fortune. Check out their shop and website for more info really!

Lets calm down shall we? I haven't inherited Onassis' billions ;)

The 12 was the bottle we tried. Was nice but we didn't think it warranted the $90 odd price tag. Whereas the Obsn lives up yo every cent.

Well it's not a bad little tipple, the nose and the palate are good, it has just the right about of smoke and has some citrus there I think. The 50% vol gives it a phowar but the finish lets it down. Not sure how old it is but it is very pale in colour so I reckon pretty young.

One of my mates drinks nothing but Laphroig, which seems pretty boring to me, but each to his own. Of the Islay malts its Lagavulin for me.

Sticking to just one seems a bit like cutting your nose off to spite your face to me. They're all gorgeous.

Ardbeg for me, for what it's worth, but have a bottle of Lagavulin on the go as well, and finished a bottle of Laphroaig last week.

Laphroaig 10yo is vastly better at cask strength.

Tried that for the first time this week, thought it was 'kin disgusting, took an extremely large, large drambuie to get rid of the taste

Which ones mate? Feeling daring. Am about to buy my fave Oban Distiller's Edition this week but may be tempted to try new things ;)

Lagavulin is routinely 50% more than other single malts even in Scotland. Worth it if you like the peaty Islay malts . But as commented above its not to everybody's taste.!

Lagavulin 10 and Laphroaig 15 (when they had it) and 18 are my favorites, so am prepared to embrace smokey peaty goodness.

The 10yo is probably the best starting point. It's incredibly smoky but somehow much lighter than Laphroaig or Lagavulin. If you like Lagavulin then go for the Uigeadail. It's richer and quite sherried and comes at 54.2%. The Corryvreckan I've only had once and thought it was lovely and want a bottle. It's more "medicinal" tasting than the other two.
