Stop going to the match

If all together now asked fans to boycott home games, would you?

Most people i know don't feel like that though. I went the Utd game last week, I enjoyed most of it...the day, the laughs, singing before the game- outside and inside the ground, and 'most' of the game . Do you want me to now pretend i didn't enjoy it because of the final result? We were in the game until injury time, and should have equalised (Myko sitter) and we thought we did equalise (the celebration for the 2-2 was ace- sad that it was disallowed, but that doesn't change the near 'moshpit' that happened for nearly a minute). The end result doesn't change those moments. Obviously, a win would have made the day better but the whole day was mostly really good. A great laugh and even better to go an 'away' game with one of my oldest and best mates for the first time in over 5 years.

That’s fine, more power to you. Personally I don’t enjoy it and don’t miss it, and that’s fine too.

This.

I have a sesson ticket, though my daughter uses it as often as I do these days.

Our non attendance would be futile as the club already have my dough.

Plus I have no intention of letting the season ticket stay unused given the money it costs.

But above all else I will not sit in the house whilst my beloved club fights for its PL survival on the pitch.

Me or my daughter will be in that seat urging them on.

So no, I won’t be heeding any call to boycott EFC on matchdays.
I understand your viewpoint but you must see that there’s something bigger in play here?

The board have declared war on the fanbase and the only way I can see to make the fans point is surely to boycott home games?

This would focus the media spotlight and put pressure on the board. They wont have any wiggle room and will be forced to act.

Fans attending the home games and supporting the club is exactly what the board wants and therefore they maintain their position of control.

BTW this is my take on it. I wouldn’t call out another fan for wanting to attend home games and support the team, but I would ask other fans to consider the bigger picture.

Nothing will change in this world unless ordinary people take a stand and make it happen.

"Surely to god you can cancel this (season ticket)? Save yourself mate, it’s the best thing I ever did binning my season ticket off"

You're welcome.

I was directly responding to a poster that was saying he is going to stop going anyway lol lol lol

I’m a ST and already renewed for next year but I won’t be going again

Please try a bit harder.

I wonder if this became a thing how many would do it, because if the same amount could boycott one game, that stayed behind yesterday, it would be massive.
It's 90 minutes of football, which is on TV anyway, its not that big a sacrifice

But you highlighted the bits in red above- and the poster said he wasn't going again 'temporarily' not permanently (due to this board).

Everyone has their own opinion on what needs to done (or not). I’m fairly certain that if a media campaign was started then a large percentage of the fanbase would boycott certain home games. However I’m not so certain that the campaign could be sustained over a period of time.

After all we do tend to be creatures of habit - trying to break a habit is not easy and does not appeal to many people.

Thing is though a big part of the match day routine is meeting friends before and after the game, that can still be done

I really dont feel like going.

But im not rich enough to just leave 80 quid a game on the table.

The boy cant make the next 2 home games, so im probably just gonna stick the tickets on the resale.

They have had my money, but I dont see why I should set it on fire.

I was planning on taking my Grandson to 1 of those games, but I couldnt take him to Goodison currently, he would HATE every second.

True.

When it got bad in the 80's crowds of 8k plus, empty Goodison sends a message.
Maybe but one of the incidents that changed/helped us back then was Howard opening the window at Stoke in the cup, so they could hear how many fans were there "don't let these fans down" (or words to that effect). Also, attendances dipped badly in the early 1990s too- didn't do any good and nearly all the decade was poor. And the 'stay aways' did no good in the 1970s either. For example, close to 50,000 people at the start of the 1970/71 season to welcome the champions, ended up in around half that in attendance and some home games at the end of that season (when they didn't do so well). This hardly inspired the players for the next season.
