I mean if only we had followed brands mantra we would have been ok, but we did the absolute opposite. We paid top dollar for the rejects from top teams, gave them exorbitant contracts and now we are in big trouble. I just hope we have learned the lesson now.

Did we sign one single player of this ilk? I mean, surely Brands would have gotten one or two over the line?!?! Perhaps the Brands mantra is a myth, he only bought such players in Holland cos he couldnt afford any thing else

Here's the link to the official accounts that make for some grim reading... if you have the time and appreciation of how a set of accounts are compiled (not a smartass comment, there are many on this forum perfectly capable of reading accounts)...

Following the release of arguably these, the worst set of accounts in the history of Everton Football Club, Esk - who has been consistently correct in predicting the financial plight the club finds itself in - has penned this brief summary of where we're at and how completely dependent upon Moshiri the club currently is.

Having offered his initial thoughts, Esk has now looked deeper into the numbers.
It's a long read and the numbers are scary...

Taking his analysis at face value and in good faith, that's not good.

Only one view of course, sure others may bring different perspectives.

I havent read Esks post, but I doubt theres a person in the world who could put a positive spin on our latest accounts, they arent just bad, they are way, way beyond bad.
This is one of the occasions where in depth analysis and number crunching is pointless.

The accounts are bad. We cant continue like this. Big changes need to be made.

There's nothing else needs to be said.

Grim reading Andy, although Paul the Esk was not quite as clued up on our transfer business as he claimed to be a few years ago, but, he does have a good grasp a balance sheet. It really is terrifying that a lot of fans are still lauding 'Mosh Man' and discussing the tens of millions we will be spending in the summer. We are really In a dark place both on and off the pitch, and, whether by poor judgement, in appointing incompetent people to do the day to day running of the club, or, an owner showing reckless disregard for the advice those people are giving him, or, as I'm inclined to believe a mixture of both, we are heading for oblivion if this is not addressed immediately.

It you have a look at the transfer window thread, for example, it is like fantasy island. So many people seem to believe that if we can manage , by some miracle, to comply with financial regulations a then we will be able to give Lampard or his successor, all of the money raised by the sale of our better players to rebuild the squad. It doesn't seem to register that this is a business which is losing well over a hundred million pounds per year and, irrespective of financial compliance or not, the cold hard facts are that we are heading towards recievership.

A bleak situation.

What makes it even worse is the apparent lack of realisation from within.

It's hard to fathom the "escape" from it without a huge cull and restructuring.

?

The mad thing is the PL believing our big massive whoppers to explain our losses. Hard to know whose more bogey them, us! (or VAR).
We dont know they have accepted anything yet, we have simply submitted our accounts.

Whether the Premier League deems us worthy of sanctions or not will come next.

I think it’s not too far fetched to suggest that Farhad Moshiri will know every trick in the book with accounting in this and most other countries, you don’t get to be as wealthy and successful as him without knowing just how close to the edge you can operate and still get away with it. Its more worrying that the club is now saddling debt and seems to be hitching all its future on a stadium build and new owners who may never materialise
