I see the weather as an integral part of the game so find myself disagreeing with this strangely !.
The weather is very much part of the game, it dictates whether you want to bowl or bat, how a ball reacts under certain conditions, cloud cover etc, dictates what type of bowling suits .
I think part of the reason you saw the English first innings as aggressive as it was is they knew the forecast so had to go for it.
It's the nature of the game and is so much better for it imo.
Conversely, you've seen the other side pick as many batsman as possible and slow the game down at every opportunity, which probably shouldn't be aided by the over top enforcement of schedules, especially taking tea during a dry spell.

They only had 15 overs of seam, the ball was soaking wet so wouldn't reverse, as soon as Anderson got it to move the umpires said spin only.

Also the aussie batters wasted as much time as possible and played very well.

England have done absolutely everything possible to force a win in very unfortunate circumstances, no way should anyone be getting on their back for this test

Yeah I read a lot on the BBC criticising them yesterday afternoon, which was unfair. I kept thinking Australia are allowed to play well too and the ball was doing nothing.

The players and management won't admit to it but they did alter and learn from the first two tests, which is a good thing, and will be unlucky not to win the series as they have been the better team. Ultimately I think the needless declaration on the very first day has cost them the urn more than the weather in this test.

Hear hear. Market forces will win in the end though.

That declaration is a decision that wins them the game if we take our catches, without it that game is a draw and Stokes has said (quite rightly) he has no interest in draws.

I think you are spot on with that point about the oppo, I remember Stokes saying to the TMS blerts that 'other teams are allowed to be better than us' after NZ levelled the series over there.

The weather has let England down but I was there yesterday and the bowling in perfect conditions was extremely poor. I didn't understand the short stuff at all. The fact we looked more dangerous taking a wicket with spin says it all.

I'll give Stokes his credit that his captaincy is going to die by the sword and thinking of test cricket as a whole. I do see both sides but with Root still there I don't think a few more overs to see if he could push it past 400 would have hurt.

It was one of the best batsman in the world at the crease, with a bloke who had just cracked a century in no time in the last test, with a damp ball and then told you're only allowed spin...I thought they did well to get one.

Don't disagree with any of that.

If we draw this test and win the last it could be similar to the womens where it feels like a win to us and a loss to them. Retaining the Ashes is a glorified draw.
