The Everton Board Thread

Like anything in life business or sport your only as good as your people. So I thought why not compare the CV of our CEO Denise and that of another Premier League ever present club? So I picked Farhad Moshiri and Alisher Usmanov’s first club Arsenal.

CEO of Arsenal - Vinai Venkatesham - CV
Roles held at Arsenal:
CEO
Managing Director
Chief commercial officer
Sales and marketing director
Director of global partnerships and business strategy
Head of global partnerships

Roles outside and before Arsenal:
European club association - board member
British Olympic association - Non executive director.
Arsenal foundation - trustee
Arsenal broadband limited - director
Dugout - non executive director
London 2017 - non executive director
London 2012 - commercial manager
Deloitte - strategy consultant
Mitsui - oil trader
L.E.K Consulting - associate

CEO of Everton Denise Barrett-Baxendale
Roles held at Everton
CEO
Deputy CEO
Chief operating officer
Everton in the community - executive chairman.

Roles held outside of and before Everton:
Sport England - board member 2016
Before 2010 16 years working in education - academic & leadership.

No doubt Denise is a talented person but the gulf in business experience is frightening. We can’t just expect to carry on like we have with ad hoc characters running the club promoted from within we need serious business minded people surely?
Bill Kenwright at our last AGM.

"Denise is the best in the business"

OK, mate.

Surprisingly positive story about the fans so the PR crusade by the board isn't working fully
This line is absolutely golden:

"But on some level I wonder whether the jauntiness of the medium is a subconscious counterpoint to the opacity and obfuscation of the Everton board, with their woolly “Official Statements”, their anonymous briefings to favoured journalists, the intentionally imprecise messaging. You put out your press releases. We bring poetry."

He looks like he has actually spoken to some fans and done some proper research about the situation and why people are protesting.

Fair play to him. Because he is right, I’m getting crap given to me from fans of other clubs who want us to go down because apparently we think we are bigger than we are due to our history, but as the report says, those with the banners etc, don’t remember that history.
