Schneiderlen will never fit a Silva team unless he plays the pivot role even then he's simply not got the legs to press and looks half arsed he needs selling to Spain or Italy where he would fit in. We need a box to box player with high energy and athleticism.

In midfield McCarthy can do a good job if he can stay fit and Schneiderlen picked up towards the end of the season. Rooney looks to be going but his wages are too high and he wasn’t doing much as a central midfielder anyway. Niasse is a definite to stay.

Further forward Walcott, Tosun, Sig, Lookman and Dowell look like decent options. I’d even be inclined to give Bolasie a go - he came back from a shocking injury into a team devoid of confidence. Let’s see how he goes next season.

Our squad isn’t as bad as some make out. Cut the deadwood, sign 3-4 for key players. Play in a positive system and hopefully have some better luck with injuries and next season will be much better.

Key is to have the players to fit the system.

It will all be about the system and style of play now -- players who dont suit specific roles will be sold.

Good point about only signing 3-4 key players.

LB / CB / CM / RF all needed at a minimum.

If we can reach 8th with such a shambles of a squad then the addition of key long term players would hold that position at minimum.

I believe the most important piece of business this summer is removing a huge number of players to open up wages + transfer budget.

Should be very exciting.

The moment we sign a few promising players the expectation will rise.

I’m staying firmly grounded this year accepting it won’t be an overnight fix.

I’d be happy to consolidate our position next year, with the adage that the squad can grow and become better long term. I just want a little bit of excitement back.

It’s the least we deserve.
 

The only thing I would "notice" if bolasie left, would be that I wouldn't be swearing at the tv every time the ball gets played out to the left wing

Baines......legs have gone. Would also add Holgate, Kenny, Baningime, Sigurdsson, Lookman, Davies and Vlasic to the keep list.

Another one who see's schneiderlin play half decent in 3 games abd believes he should still be at our club

He won't be first choice next year unless something goes horribly wrong (which let's face it, could happen) and we don't get a left-back.

That doesn't mean Baines should be moved on.

Keep him as back-up, because what's the point in buying two left-backs when we can have still one of the better ones in the league as back up.

Also gives Robinson room to develop (another loan would suit him I think) and we can reassess Baines' position in January/end of the season.
 
I hope to God this time around that we have a proper formula and structure to the players we are going for...and one established well ahead of the pack. I don't think I can go through yet another session of "sailor on shore leave" peeing money up the wall scattergun on 'maybes' rather than 'certs'. I'm hoping too that Brands can be everything to us that Walsh wasn't and give the new manager a fighting chance of building a proper "team" with players that are proper footballers not individuals who give 50% when they feel like. Asking a lot I know...but we deserve it. As always being an Evertonian, its the hope that kills you .....and my ole pacemaker wont last another season as horrible as the last one !!
