Hey, swole sisters 👋

Does anyone have any wise solutions for tennis elbow? Think I’ve been overdoing the old pull downs as I’m like Tricepsratops now, but this stings like a bitch.
Not one your gonna like, but rest and anti inflammatory.
I had golfers elbow a few years back. Tried to work through it, wnded up doing more damage and having to do physio for a bit.

With rest it's still gonna be months before you can go again.
Stop doing whatever aggravates it and find other upper body stuff.

You could also try using those hook grips. The metal hooks that sit in your hand and have a wrist strap on them. Takes the movement out of your lower arms and more into the upper arms for controlling the weight.

Leg day every day for a week or two.

Basically rest and anti-inflammatory, it's pretty much the only solution - better to not risk further damage by overexerting.

I've had that/similar and stuff like this helped, or other hot/cold gels of your choice (I like Reparil Gel but I've only seen it like once in the UK). Apply and rest the arm if you can, i.e. when lying down for a nap or sleep or whatever, I try to basically not move for a bit when I apply those for similar muscle/joint pains.

Related to that - went for a game of footy the other day, didn't warm up properly because I'm obviously mentally handicapped, pulled a muscle right under my arse (apparently the muscle is called biceps femoris, now calling it arse bicep) within 20 min from playing a short pass of all things, felt like I got stabbed ffs. Last time I had pain in my leg like that it was for a much more serious injury. Currently on above-mentioned gel, luckily not any adductor damage by the feel of it, as it's pretty much normal now a day and a half later, but I've not been to the gym yet and will have to be careful for it too.

I’ve had that before and found nothing that worked. Ibuprofen helped get me through a few workouts but found no other real solution except rest.

Cheers, chaps. Much appreciated.

I've been doing some thinking and my strength levels are getting to around what I was at my strongest in 2017. I remember my elbows and forearms always aching in a similar way. I realised my arms weren't strong enough for what I was lifting. My elbows would sting and I'd have shooting pains down my forearms. I started training arms more intensively and it went away completely. I've got lifting straps now so my grip has improved a lot, but it's probably encouraged me to neglect forearms lately.

Resting is almost certainly the best bet, but I'm enjoying the gym more than ever and I don't want to stop. I've found an NHS PDF of exercises I'm going to make my way through, and there's a lot of wrist and grip based exercises which leads me to believe my forearms need strengthening again. I'll buy one of those powerballs today, too. Need all the help I can get now what with being 35 and doing a manual job.

PDF link if anyone is interested.

One of my mates ruptured his Achilles in a game the other week. I actually heard it pop too, was horrible. I think the fact he was hungover and done zero stretching played a role - never neglect the warmup (and even warm down)!

I’m in Portugal at the moment for 2 weeks, drinking a load and eating whatever I want. Rig is looking sloppy - back to bedlam when I’m back but will enjoy myself for now.

Was half tempted to get up and do a workout/run this morning but thought f that.
Got back from a couple of weeks away, on Sunday.

Got proper catfished by the hotel website when it came to the gym. Didn’t make it look super amazing but in the photo there was at least a Smith machine (there wasn’t) and a full dumbbell rack (there wasn’t). There were a couple of treadmills, some random assortment of dumbbells up to about 17.5kg and a few proper old machines.

Went about 4 times and then jibbed it and just got progressively fatter instead.

@Graeme Shar-pei I've been using my new Powerball Gyroscope on and off for a couple of hours and I have some relief already. Nice one for that!

You can really feel the resistance in your forearm. I had to stop doing incline dumbbell press on Wednesday because I could feel the tendon in my elbow twanging and it was very disconcerting. The first test will be tomorrow's shoulder session.

apparently loads of golfers and racquet sports people use them as they strengthen grip. underrated piece of kit

Gym culture is DEAD. It’s a completely different environment to 3/4 years ago.

They used to be places full of productive people wanting to better themselves. Now it’s 50% young lads with zero gains texting and shouting even though they’re within 2 feet of each other. The girls put them to shame.

After 7 months of ‘normal’ gyms I’ve had enough. Ive just applied to the Tory health club. The skinny kids own the normal gyms now.

Anyone? anyone at all...

I've had 2 operations after a torn left tricep tendon and decided against repairing the right one. It takes at least a year to heal and even then the pain never really goes away completely. I'll never lift anywhere near max again and the frequency had to be reduced. Anything more than every 3 days leads to weeks out injured. Trust me mate, if you're having elbow issues just stop. You can't work through it and will end up crippled for life. Hit legs and cardio for 4-6 weeks and slowly test the arm after that.

Thanks for the heads up, that sounds rough to say the least.

Fortunately my elbow has felt a lot better over the last two days. The Powerball has really made a difference. I’m going to take this seriously and I’ll buy some elbow compression sleeves as well. I’ve taken it easy over the last few days as a precaution.

Got a bit paranoid about buggering up my elbow so I've just bought some compression elbow sleeves. Never used anything like them before but a lot of lifters seem to rate them.

Anyone here got any experience with them?
