For a relatively clean bulk I found smoothies to be very effective.

I’d blend 400ml of whole milk with half a mug of oats, a tablespoon of peanut butter, handful of blueberries, a scoop of vanilla protein powder and as much spinach I could squeeze in. I’d put it in the fridge overnight so the oats wouldn’t ruin my stomach any more than I already have.

To rely on eating alone is very difficult as you’d be eating every 3 or so hours to maximise muscle growth. It starts to become a chore unless you’ve got the budget for a diet of high quality pre-prepared fresh and non processed food.

Joining this thread as I'm a habitual gym goer as much for the mental side of it as I am the physical benefits. I tend to go every day on lunch for 50 minutes and then do a big workout on either a Saturday morning or a sunday. I found something really interesting out today though that you lot might feel is helpful: https://www.boxrox.com/overhead-tricep-extensions-vs-cable-pushdowns/

The go to for your triceps has always been pulldowns with a cable for most people, but this study reckons the overhead exercises are 40% better for your muscle growth as they target the long head. I didn't know this until today, but I have been trying to incorporate more overhead extensions and found that I've seen a difference in strength and size. Worth a go!

I prefer a katana extention for triceps. Whicj is overhead But you will be amazed how much you work them anyway, with things like overhead press and chest pressing movements.
The dame for biceps, with back rows and lat pulldowns if you use the d handle

Just had a great chest session. I’ve progressed to lifting 34kg dumbbells on chest press and it feels good.

I don’t see too many people doing them these days, but I’ve always found dumbbell pullovers to be a great exercise. It targets the chest superbly.
I don't think the kids of today are bothered about what works, just what looks good on the gram (Insta not columbian).
My gym has just got a great new pullover machine. Great for chest and back. Never see anybody on it.

Young lads are the worst thing about gyms in 2023 hands down.

The majority of them have no idea what they’re doing and just stand around, scrolling, chatting loudly, leaving the weights they barely used on the floor. Not only are they wasting their time, but they’re making the gym a worse place for everyone else. If I’d behaved like they do when I first started I would have received a stern telling off.

By contrast the girls of the same age work a lot harder and have much better etiquette. No issues with them whatsoever.

To make it worse they’re always staring at the guys who have a bit of muscle. Like stop staring noodle arms and lift some weights ffs lol I’m not one for body shaming at all but their presence makes zero sense and it’s so frustrating, and not to mention dangerous. I’m just counting down the 35 or so days until my membership at the country club starts.

I'm 8 weeks into a 12-week programme, started the cutting phase today. I absolutely hated it the last time I did it, but I go on holiday in a month which is why I'm doing it. The hardest bit is finding the foods you can eat that fill you up but aren't full of carbs and fat.
The last bit is why I started going mad on the smoothies. Granted, mine was for bulking purposes, but you can see exactly what you’re putting in etc.

Have you got a nutri bullet style blender or anything similar?

Get those bags of prepped veg and just eat a bag of that. Trust me, you won't be hungry.
I like to stir a bit of sauce through it for flavour, to mix it up a bit, like pesto or a sweet chilli sauce. Not much sauce, just enough to coat it.
Up your water intake massively as well. Drinking 2 litres, make it 4. You will be too busy going to the toilet to worry about earing.
When you cut, you are losing the water you natural get from food, a lot of time when you think you are hungry, it is actually thirst.
