The loan myth

Gibson Is a total write off due to his injuries. Leaving us madly short behind barry and mccarthy.

Need serious cash to sign someone on the same level as mccarthy and barkley.

A certain ex Everton player still employed by the club was absolutely scathing about the loans after the game yesterday.

Particularly about the 80 thousand a week we're paying traore.

I thought we'd sent Traore back? We won't be paying him if he's been returned.

Bag Barry, the midfield is fine. Need strikers.

The loans we have only Lukaku and Barry make an impact. Del hasn't really set the world on fire. And the less said about Traore the better.

also, Barkley got benched and then sent back by Leeds last season.
I see your point about him being rested, that might be true. But I think everyone knew Barkley was going to be big here, unfortunately this lad hasn't got that status and that will make it much harder for him. I hope he proves me wrong and he's on the team next season.

Surely we aren't stupid enough to be doing that.....

Loans are really expensive now, for top players. Lukaku's loan fee is rumoured to be £6m, plus £40k/wk wage puts the total package at £8m for the year. Chelsea paid what, £19m for him? Loaned him out last season to WBA, and could even look to loan him out again next season. If they then start playing him from 2015/2016 season as a regular, they've effectively recovered their investment!

That said, if we're going to go down the route of loans, I'd rather we went for quality players like we have done this season, than some of the makeweights (and however you'd describe Stracquilarsi) of the past. But loans this day and age are definitely not a cheap option.

Love the way the "rumours" about Lukaku's loan fee have gone from £2m when he signed, to £3m, then to £5m, and now apparently £6m!!

By the end of the season we would have been able to just buy him outright with the money we'll have been "rumoured" to have paid in loan fees.

Not sure why some are makingup figures for lukaku loan and traore wages...

Attention seeking.

Loans are great. They can be quick-fixes, trials or just a chance to get a player you wouldn't normally be able to have.

However when loans don't complement buys, but seemingly replace them, then you have a problem. And his name's Bill 'the biggest blue' Kenwright.

Exactly the problem we'll have going into the summer when everyone thinks we have a surplus from last summers sales but reality hits home that it's been spent on the loanees for the last year.

Here's a thought. Why don't you get on the phone in after the next Everton game.
And ask Graeme Sharp if it's true.:celebrate:

Alright here's the question...

Would people prefer investing in a player or players of a certain quality...or loaning players of a better quality?

For eg - Buying Darren Bent or loaning Lukaku?

As mentioned before, only 2 players are making an impact on the team. One of which we'll most likely buy at the end of the season.

Unless we grab a bargin we have to spend £10million+ on a striker. That's most of the budget gone. Or we loan 3 top class up and comers and see where the season takes us.

To me, with our finances, we need to use that loan system.
