Any recommendations? We fly out from Edinburgh on October 10th for 4 days and even though we've looked up a few bar/restaurants/trip to Sopot, it's always good to get advice from someone who's actually there.

The old part of town is just ace. You could spend all 4 days happily walking around it, down the back streets and down the river

Sadly I was there for work, so I didn't get to spend too much time seeing the sights or Sopot sadly

Genuinely, the most amazing amount of staring at hot girls I have ever done in one place. Ohhhmerrgoodddd

I'm guessing you're going with a better half?

If not, got to Glamour

Potentially a couple other nice ones coming up. Good times! Never been to Vienna, but hopefully thats next

And I thought I followed you too =/

What's the best time of year to visit Japan?....would love to visit tokyo
I was I was there in November 2012, mostly about 200 miles north east of Tokyo and found it marvellous. Tokyo would be terrific any time of the year, but Imwould love to go again to experience the cherry blossom in April time, business contacts in Nagoya and Tokyo highly, highly recommend seeing that.

Cheers man. Aye, going with my missus, but you can be on a diet and still look in the cake shop...right?;)

Got a few decent trips in the next 6-7 weeks.....week in North Carolina ( flying into Washington, spending a day/night there and then a 7 hr drive, then a week in Bal Harbor, Florida and then a week in Johannesburg. Good for the air miles.
Just back from 3 days in Venice which is one of them places that gets a bit boring when you see it fairly regular.

If you want a short flight to a tidy destination with shed loads to do than you'd not be disappointed with either Budapest or Stockholm.

Has anyone ever done any volunteer work abroad? I used to be a bricklayer and wouldn't mind the opportunity to go to a developing country and lend my skills. I've looked in to it before but the only things I could find cost like £2,000 for 2 weeks to a month, which I thought was a bit weird.

There's a website https://www.workaway.info where people abroad advertise for volunteers to help them with various things i.e. building work, in exchange for food and accommodation. It's really intrigued me, just wondered if anyone has done anything similar?

The Guardian has a development section which also has a development professionals network. Might be something there

Just booked New York with my wife, brother and sister in law. Been all over the place but still never been to New York, ridiculously excited! Going on 27/12 until 07/01. Any recommendations?

Where to start with New York really...you probably know everywhere already. Roof tops bars are worth googling

The parks are obviously great, Central Park you could spend days in. Bryant Park is worth a visit and definitely definitely go to the Highline. It's a park as such which is elevated above the streets as its an old train line

And it's worth going over to Brooklyn, even if it's just for the BBQ food at Fette Sau

Got 2 days each in Riga and Vilnius around the Lithuania v England game in a fortnight. Then a weekend in Alicante in November (Spain friendly), before my big 3-week trip around Morocco over Xmas and New Year. Marrakech, Casablanca, Rabat Tangier, Agadir, Fez and the Atlas Mountains. About 5 or 6 local league games thrown in for good measure. Really looking forward to that.

My mate and I are also looking at a long weekend in Boston over the final weekend of January. Flights are dead cheap as it's obviously the lowest of low season, or I can use my Avios to cover it all for zilch. I fancy an ice-hockey game for good measure, plenty of live music clubs and cheap shopping.

Try and get to a Wydad Casablanca home game if you can, the stadium is unbelievable and the fans are brilliant. The standard is basically like 11 Denis Stracqualursi's but it's a great experience.

I know the main attractions of New York, I'm just struggling to find a way of doing everything really lol

They're at home in the derby against Raja Casablanca on Christmas Day - already in the itinerary ;)
