Heading to Prague for 2 nights next month, any recommendations for food, ale? How much should I be budgeting a day? Thanks lads

I was there in the late 90's and again in approx 2010. The difference was huge. Had become a stag weekend and ultra sleazy craphole in the interim. My main memory was walking down one of the main streets in the city centre at about 8pm on a Sunday night, and being accosted by a prossie and her pimp every 10 meters or so.

In general the main advice I can remember is ask for a price for all taxi rides before you get in, and bargain down the price to half of their first offer and you won't be doing too badly, still way more than the locals pay, but so be it. Restaurants around the city centre are pretty much all of a muchness, but good value over most places. Beer is very good and cheap, but don't let it lower your guard in terms of drugs or lady's offered to you as you'll end up being done over almost certainly. Try get a hotel in the city centre as the public transport shuts down to the outside areas earlier than you'd like. But be aware of the pickpockets in the public transport areas especially the underground stations. The only place I've ever been pickpocketed is there, and I've been travelling for 30 years.

Just back from 7 nights in Lisbon. Second time I've been but 7 nights was far too long. You walk around a lot but honestly not much to see in the city. Plus 7 hangovers is awful.
7 days could be a bit much without a car to visit the surrounding area. Would have advised to get the train to Faro or Porto after a few days then fly back from there. Faro tends to have cheaper flights.

Yeh 7 nights wasn’t the plan, was supposed to be 5 (probs still 1-2 too much) but extended as getting home from the airport on 1st Jan looked to be a nightmare.

I went a few years ago for a mates stag so memories are hazy. But i do remember we went across the old bridge one day, so away from the main square, and found a cheap and cheerful bar there. We sat for hours and couldn't believe how cheap our bill was.

Three Stag Do's this year. Dublin, Barcelona and Krakow. Any tips of places to avoid/definitely visit in Barca would be great.
I liked the bar Bosc De Las Fades in Barcelona, was like a rainforest inside with an hourly storm, quirky for 1 pint atleast. Its beside the waxworks not far from Las Ramblas.

Irish bar called George Payne if you are looking to get drunk, they did a 'blackout' tray for like 20 euros with shots, mixed drinks etc.

For food i can remember going to a place called Milk for brunch, was a queue down the street but the chorizo hash was worth wait.

The wife used to live there so we went to so many places i can't remember all the names.

Yes. It is magnificent.

A tip from out hotel concierge. Don’t pay for the Uffizi. The same artists lived and worked in the city for years. Just wander into all of the local churches and look up.

How long are you there for?A train ride out to Lucca is worth it if you have time.
Thanks so much for this. We are not there that long arrive late Friday and head off lunchtime Monday. If longer would have looked a a wine tour etc.
Thanks for the tip on not paying for Uffizi.
Did you have a Bisteca anywhere? Trying to work out best place to try one!

Yes mate. Go here.

Great restaurant. So good we ate there twice in a week which we never do. Have the lard on toast as a starter. Seriously.
