Vegetarians !

Anybody on GOT Vegetarians ?

I'm thinking about it !
I am for the last 30 years. Find things you like and remember to eat well and with some variety and you'll be grand. I never took to tofu or quorn but they are not necessary - there's loads of great Indian, Italian, Thai, etc meals that are great. I'd say most types of dish can be just as nice with meat replaced by veg. You might need to use a little less spice to get the same effect in some things though (I think meat must kind of absorb spice more). Good luck!

No I don't like Tofu either unless it's heavily marinated. I do like quorn products though.

As with any effort at eating better, you need to do a little bit of planning/prep. It will depend on what you like/need but for me part of it is batch cooking and freezing a common base for meals.

Every few weeks I'll chop and fry a load of onions, a bulb or two of garlic (don't let it burn), peppers, courgette, mushrooms and I'll boil carrots. Any given day I can defrost some, add some or all of frozen corn, frozen broccoli, a tin of kidney beans, chick peas, lentils, whatever and depending on what herbs or spices you add you have a quick, healthy, curry, pasta dish, veggies-cottage-pie, Mexican-wrap-thing, etc.

Aldi and Tesco do some OK one-pot veggie meals too for every now and then.

Also I would try to always have some nuts, fruit, hummus, wholemeal pittas etc in the house - try lots starting and see what works for you.

I haven't eaten meat for 30 years due to animal welfare issues. I occasionally eat fish.
My wife has been vegetarian for more than 40 years .
At first it was difficult to find decent vegetarian meals when eating out but increasingly we are enjoying top quality food out.
Our weekly food bills are a fraction of my 95 year old mum's who is a carnivore.
Of course, each to their own but a delicious, healthy , balanced diet can be achieved on a budget .

Getting on for 25 years for me mate.

There’s still parts of the country, where I swear they’ve never heard of veggies - East Yorkshire and North Cumbria for starters, as it’s almost impossible to get a decent meal when your out.

Haven’t eaten meat for over 30 years, I like Quorn products, Heck meat free sausages and Birds Eye Green Cuisine burgers. Was invited to a barbecue once and was presented with Waitrose beetroot burgers which the host proudly announced he had bought especially for me, the only veggie there. One would have been too many, offered to share but got no takers, so had to force down four.

I haven't eaten any meat/fish in over 7 years. More or less vegan at this stage but alllow myself the discretion of eating dairy and eggs if they're already in something.

I dont miss meat/fish at all. Massively increased my fruit and veg intake (obviously) and vastly expanded my culinary skills along the way.

Lost about 2 stone from my meat eating days and have a lot more energy and less digestive tract problems - I suffer from diverticulitis.

my brothers gf has recently gone pescatarian. every time we see them with my parents, my mum is like 'WE ATE A REALLY NICE CAULIFLOWER THE OTHER DAY', and on the boxing day buffet, my mum explained every part of it to her, including things such like 'this is a prawn, this is a pork sausage so you can't have that' lol
