Was Lampard a mistake

Nothing against Lampard and if our squad wasn’t so rancid I think he’d been the right man.
He’s been desperately unlucky with injuries and suspensions since he got here. If Mina had stayed fit we’d have a lot more points right now.
Then again, all teams have hard luck stories. It’s about making your own luck. The players of this squad were just too weak, to disinterested and too limited.

Having said that, and I don’t know to what extent this was Lampards fault, the January recruitment was completely wrong. Everyone knew we needed defensive solidity, not flair players. We should have gotten a center half and/or a defensive midfielder in. Dele, el Ghazi and vdb have had no impact what so ever.
And selling Digne, Jesus Christ, who in Gods name authorized that? Criminal.

I love Duncan. He bleeds blue and he’s an honorary Scouser as far as I’m concerned. But what managerial experience has Duncan got? A few matches as caretaker? Shoot me down in flames for saying this but we should have re-appointed the guy who took us from just above the relegation zone to 8th spot a few years ago - Big Sam.

You might be right, although Sam had better defenders to work with

Maybe Frank thought Mina,Keane, Godfrey,Holgate would be Ok.But we defo needed a Def/mid to go with Alan

This is on us, we wanted him and forced the board to listen to us. The board wanted that Victor guy who was waiting to be announced.
As I've read on other threads..We haven't been happy since Moyes left..No patience with managers... Look at Silva at Fulham.I know it's the championship...But what could could he have done with time and money

The Lampard decision yes, however the predicament we're in is the board's. Thinking objectively, would Pereira have done enough to save us?

Of course it's all ifs and buts, but I doubt it. This is ultimately the result of a number of decisions and events that collectively have snowballed towards relegation.

We've signed far too many players for large fees and obscene wages who weren't/aren't good enough. With hindsight, Ancelotti did not look happy at the tail end.

Then, Benitez should have never been allowed to join, make some of the atrocious decisions that he did and then remain in tenure for so long.

I don't think it's unfair to say Lampard was perhaps one of the only attractive (as in to be manager) individuals out there, so of course the fans wanted him.

Is Lampard the man we need? Sadly, the optimism and gloss is disappearing; while we can rightly question the players, tactically there's questions too.

Clubs are able to float through us as we play far too wide when we need to be compact, but again with the likes of Kenny, Holgate and Keane it's not unexpected.

Lampard will turn out alright ..... once the squad is fixed. Booting him out or hounding him now will be the mistake. This position we are in has been a perfect storm of injury after injury of a paper thin squad combined with a succession of dodgy VAR and referee decisions throughout the season.

He might turn out to be alright, but will it be 8n the PL? I can’t see where the next po8nt is coming from, I want a manager that’s doing it here and now not turn out alright sometime in the future.

He was never even an option got me. But once employed I got behind him. I’ve also gave him the benefit of the doubt.

Last night I changed. He’s just not good enough. In fact he’s terrible and it’s written all over his face.
