Good post mate, couldn't agree more mate, its now a trend.
Both the club and us as fans are culpable.
I look at Gordon as an example - to my mind he was put into an awful situation by the club. Developmentally what he needed is what he is getting at Newcastle, playing without pressure and 30 mins here and there, putting work into training and then in games incrementally, in a year, year and half he could be dropping shapes. Thats what he needed.
What he got here was the hopes of the club resting on his shoulders, Richarlison sold, Dom not being able to string two performances together and the expectation that he had to create and score - as the singular hope of the club. He didnt and couldn't do that developmentally and because he couldn't he was abused, culminating in the lad wanting out of the club.
He may make it, he may not, but its becoming a well worn path at the club when it comes to young players.
If James Garner comes in, posts five bad performances causes a few goals, the cycle will begin again.
From a business point of view - you are bang on the money - its self defeating and expensive. We were prepared to give Danjuma 100k a week and 5 mill loan fee to Villareal when Gordon cost us 5k a week. Thats poor economics and desperation, bred from the trend i talk about.
