Why is Sean Dyche and people at the club constantly talking about our fans?

It's not a new observation and not necessarily a bad thing.

Lee Carsley, in an interview with one of the many Everton podcasts, reflected that he observed the tendency for Evertonians to call things as they are. Perhaps moreso than at other clubs. He liked it as a player, felt that you knew where you stood. If the team played crap, they'd let you know. If you were great, ditto.

Think we are some of least deluded fan base out. Yes we demand better buts it's kind of the motto of the club, and if anyone can't at least acknowledge this, have to wonder what they are doing being even associated with the club.

As I say, Illd like to see O'Brien as Keane is not great.

But to say Dyche is insane for not swapping them is a massive stretch.
Dave its not just the team selection, its also because of his tactics if thats what you want to call them.

Its shambolic at best at this level of football.

2 shots on target in 2 games and 7 goals conceded! Thats not the players not being good enough thats him and his tactics.

Didn't see the game yesterday but the phone ins afterward were full of blues saying Spurs had countered Everton's tactics by playing a high defensive line against free kicks into the box.

Dyche knows now that teams are going to deploy those tactics and take our threat away as much as possible and he needs to find a way around it. Luckily we have players who can carry the ball brought into the club this summer. It might take time for Dyche to get a system that utilises them.

Last season we had a lot of shots at goal so the last two games are alarming in that respect.

Think @paultheblue raises an important point about the costs involved for fans. Sure, it's a choice, but a lot of our support quite probably feel that ticket price. It's easier to swallow if things aren't terrible.

Football is escapism and if you're just escaping to sheer misery doled out by some very very very rich people, then one might understand the frustration.

Some of that might be the case. Confounded by reverting back to type with more or less the same line up which could not win it's opening matches last season. Need to be more inventive in the final third, which has been addressed in transfer market just not allowed on pitch until the game is beyond us.

I don’t think Spurs set out to nullify our “threat” to be honest with you.

Maybe because the fans expectations are unreasonable given our recent history.
Most at the club that make these statements in recent history have no real connection to our actual history where our expectations could be justified.
It’s not unreasonable to expect the club not to have only two shots on target in the opening two games of the season with a Gd of -7. Being beaten is not necessarily the issue - it’s been the unfathomable team selections e.g. playing Keane as opposed to JOB and Doucoure as opposed to either of the two new attacking players, the manner of the performances and then the margin of defeats. To expect a little more (no, not Europe) is not unreasonable. Even he said he didn’t think the start would be as bad as it’s been. We’ve even had a spurs fan in the match thread say he was sorry for our away fans, and saw more attacking intent in roadkill. This is an Independant viewing it’s not just as supporters.

Our only hope really is Branthwaite staying and dragging us through games like he did last season. We're leaking goals for fun while only having 2 shots on target over 2 games. It's embarrassingly bad. Bournemouth game is massive, if we can't go into that game with some confidence then what's the actual point anymore?

8 open play goals since January which I presume is about 20 odd games not including cup games is a disgrace even with the player quality we have and the lack of funds available. This is what I’m on about, very little territorial progression for us, very limited possession, very little attacking threat. We may as well just reduce the pitch to the half way line for some games as it’s all being played in our half and a Dyche does mind that as long as we keep our ‘defensive shape’.

I’m drawling a line under it for me now, and looking at what the next half a dozen PL games brings.
