The ONE reason it has been all about Carsely this week is YOU. You mouth off about how crap he is, get all flustered when people disagree with you and rightfully defend him.

Er no. Someone decided to open a thread about him being a super star, and someone else said he is the best player in the squad.

Well maybe he was, but he isn't anymore. And today against poor opposition just added weight to my argument. What's he going to be like against Chelsea? or possible Fiorintina?

What's he going to be like next season?

Carsley just puts his foot through the ball and gets rid. That's all he does. Neville the same, but I think he's best suited at full back.

If we want to seriously consider top 4 again this season and CL next season, we have to at least look at the weakness that Carsley had.

I am not mouthing off, but if you've got the hump over me again then perhaps you should keep it in its thread. I am talking about Carsley not being the player we need to progress and today he was poor. That is my opinion, but I tell you what this forum seems to want to defend the weak and not support the strong.

Yak for instance, 10 times better than Beattie. May not run as much as Beattie, but so what he scores goals. Yet Beattie always gets supported and Yak doesn't.

I'm grateful for Cars for what he has done, but this season has to be his last because he is not up to the pace. That is a fact, he struggled against Wigan.

I don,t get you ghost we were on a bad run then cahill came into a midfield 5 with carsley outstanding and we went on a fantastic run beating everyone put before us.
I can,t believe your views on him he has been magnificent this season i know we all have opinions but i can,t help thinking your on a wind up here.

Also, can I not have a right to criticise a player today. People seem to want to criticise the Yak all the time, and nobody bats an eyelid. I say Carsley was poor today and its all Nick's talking crap, and needs to cut it out.

Wtf???

For the record I felt Ossie was poor, Neville was nothing today. But Carsley was poor too, and I feel because people have been celebrating him this week, and I don't agree with them, I have watched him and noted poor quality.

He never cleared anything off the line, he didn't have any close chances to score (not really). He didn't make any splitting passes, his short passing game was attrocious. he never looked for the ball to start attacks. He never closed down. He never marked anyone, he just marked space and pointed. He waited for the ball to come within kicking distance, and he just booted it.

Well my friends, that is not enough to win you trophies. And this season we have a very good chance to win us trophies. But if Carsley (superstar) can't cope with Wigan's midfield, how the hell is he going to cope with Chelsea and Lampard?

Did he play well today? Because I am looking at the date, and the game and commenting on that day and game.

[Poor language removed] it, I'm off to watch the City game, can't be arsed with this. Every player is up for criticism, but clearly I don't have license like anyone else to criticise players and offer my opinion in a free world.

That was the type of win today that gets you into Europe. Really we couldnt have complained if had finished a draw but with the condidtions and the pitch i think it was a professional if not fortunate performance. If we had played another team outside the bottom five we would have struggled a little more. Wigan just dont have the Quality. Lescott and Osman were my man of the matches, Arteta played well today too. Our big players made the difference today and thats why you pay big money for the likes of Johnson and Lescott. There are a few players of form at the moment. People know im not a huge fan of Howard but i really hope his run of incosistent form ends soon, his confidence is low and its leading to hesitation, while i think his distribution could improve too. Carsley and Nevile both looked tired today but having said that i thnk Wigans tactics were spot on.

Credit to Wigan they showd a lot of desire and for a bit more quality and cutting edge could have got something out of the game. I think Bruce got his tactics spot on. They bypassed our midfeild five every chance they got. Either by playing balls over their heads or playing through the flanks. This essentially made Neville and Cars ineffective as a defensive sheild and as a result neither had a particularly outstanding game.

I think Lanzat did a great job marking Cahill out of the game too. I think Bruce pinpointed Jags not being particularly comfortable with defending high long balls into the box as a weakness and set up some of their attacking game to try and captilise on this weakness, though for me jags did well.

Again i think he pinpointed Hibbo and Valente as a possible weakness to exploit and make chances. Hence they used thier wingers to attack them which proved to thier best way best of making chances. As most of the danger came form the flanks iit again nulfied Cars and Neville in the centre and the game really passed the centre midfeild trio by. Credit to us though we stuck at it and our quality saw us through.

Moyesey got it right bringing on Vaghan and pushing Cahill back as i say because lanzaat marked him out of the game and with wigan useing the flanks and longballs to bypass central midfeild there was no need for to defesive midfielders which Moyesy clocked onto.

Good away win in difficult circmstances but for me it could have been a draw, but we were more clinical and had more quality then Wigan which eventually saw us through.(y)

Cars has been very good all season so far but today he did have a poor game. The back four played well to keep Wigan at bay. Only for an OG we really did cope at the back.
The midfield once again was non existant. Neville and Carsley together are not good.
Hibbert put some good tackles in, Valente also blocked a couple of shots, one interception left him with what looked like a real shiner after a tangle with a Wigan player.
Lescott, well, superb as always, Jags okay too, he had no chance with the OG. Howard should have come for it though?

Awful game to watch, nerves in tatters and I'm sure we won't play like that on Wednesday. Please God we don't.

3 points, fourth place, time for a beer an relax an watch City v the 'Ammers.

Come on you Blues.

He was average today but your spouting [Poor language removed] again to knock carsley like you do and to say what you have said about him your on a different planet.
You go on about the top 4 but we are in there with carsley playing every game,i reckon you come out with [Poor language removed] to entertain yourself.
I bet there are not too many everton fans with our current position slagging off carsley like you are.

COYB

Watched the match with some mates including an alleged Wigan fan, so I had a great time :P

Not pretty, but we did what had to be done and got the 3 points :D

Manny will be unleashed against Chelsea ;)

Err no I don't. I'm not stupid.

We are in 4th spot because Liverpool are playing poorly. Carsley isn't the sole reason either why we win games. He isn't instrumental, and he isn't influential.

All I am saying, and all I have been saying for the past year is Carsley isn't good enough to take us to the next level. I think that is a fair comment. I felt today he played poorly and gave the ball away too often.

If we all think that Carsley is the type of player to take us into top 4 on a regular basis, then you are all deluded. Sorry but you are.

I think everyone is agreed that Cars and Neville didnt have a great game. But the reason fo r that as i sad in my post is that they are victims of there own success.

Bruce got his tactics spot on. He knew hed get nothing trying to play the ball thgrough centre midfeild. So his tactics were long balls over Cars and Nevilles heads or to get the ball quickly out to the flanks to stay away form central midfeild as they would have a better chance of making a chance beating Nuno and Hibbert then Cars, Nev and then Jads and Lescott.

I think Wigan got their tacics right rather then our central midfield having a bad game.

Please try and understand that I am not having a pop at Carlsey the man. I'm just concerned that we don't have anyone else and we are having to put up with what I call Sunday League football. Scrapping the ball away.

Is that what we want? Should we not expect more? Does nobody remember the 85 side? because that's the yard stick, and always will be for me.

I would just like to see the defensive midfielder starting attacks instead of hoofing it. There is nothing wrong with wanting a bit of quality.

Can't believe I am being lynched because of it.

No torches or pitch forks with me mate!

I think theres cause for an arguement there, im a Cars fan but i don think hes been in great form lately, not surprisingly i think he's tired. With that in mind id like us to bring someone in so he can be rested/rotated based of form and fatiuge! Like i said in the Cars thread there should be compition for the def midfield and rather then us answering the question, let they players, i.e. compition breeds success.(y)
