Your stance on Martinez AND what would change it?

12th with the best squad in Europe, Roberto Martinez, always the victim, its never his fault.

Best squad in Europe eh? Perhaps you should lay off the Kool Aid.

Win the FA cup or at least get to the final or a top 6 place (or at least close to it) at the very least.Dismal failure in the FA cup and another crappy mid table finish and serious questions will obviously have to be asked.

Fair enough then. Personally, I never saw the man with the biggest ego in football ever accept blame for him or his players. He might admit they weren't at the races, but he would never slate their defending publicly. And more often than not, if they lost, he'd blame the refs, and he did it a lot more than Martinez ever has...

Calm yourself down. Ferguson was a bad bellwhiff most of the time, but to actually try and do some performance comparison between him and Martinez makes the point you're trying to make look silly.

Managers tend to use guarded terms like unacceptable for performances, Martinez doesn't. He believes that Evertonians need to change their view in line with his. No chance.

When Moyes left I must admit I didn't want Martinez in but he certainly proved me wrong in his first season! We were on the whole terrific.
The following season was a mixed bag - poor in the league but good in Europe. For that reason I was accepting in finishing mid table although i still believe you can compete in Europe and finish a lot higher up.
This season though, well, i was expecting better.
We don't have the "excuse" of being in Europe so we really should be competing for top 6. It is a weird league though this year! Plenty of teams are underachieving, not just us, and plenty of teams are overachieving.
Happy with our League Cup showing on the whole and expect the same in the FA Cup.
For Martinez to receive my complete backing though he would need to sort out this awful defensive situation where we have arguably 3 of the best defenders in their positions in the league (Coleman, Baines and Stones) plus a real steady influence in our captain Jagielka, and yet are so poor in keeping clean sheets. Can't blame it all on Howard although he definitely needs replacing now.
If he can get our defence working like it did a couple of years ago (3rd best defence in league i believe) then the rest will look after itself because going forward we are pretty good (just need to be more clinical)
If however we show no improvement at all and flirt with relegation instead of European places I think he may have to go in the summer.
My choice for manager then would be the same man who I wanted when Moyes left.
Vitor Pereira.
Knows how to win trophies (in more than 1 country) and has continued to win them since we were last linked with him.
I believe he would make a great replacement for Martinez if we don't improve drastically.
And for the long term future (5-10 years from now) I believe we should bring in Eddie Howe (Evertonian)
How's that for a bonus statement?!!
Until then though, let's hope Martinez realizes his failings, addresses them and no sacking has to take place.
I don't dislike him and want him to be successful with us. Overall though, I want Everton to be successful, whoever is manager.

Stance: one last opportunity to demonstrate an ability to organise the defence.

Change: no improvements in this area by the end of the season.

I've witnessed some of the best attacking performances from an Everton side in my lifetime under his stewardship. We have some of the most exciting and potentially amazing players I've seen at the club and not just one or two, there are loads.

Expectations have been risen and there is a long term plan in place to make Everton competitive at the top again - the club are even talking about winning titles FFS!

I love it and don't want it to be taken away to go back to the dourness of the "10th is a fantastic achievement" b0llocks. That said, two consecutive seasons of poor league finishes and poor results with little in the way of improvement from our back-line is a massive concern. We will never be able to take full advantage of our attacking play if he can't address this.

Show us that you can strike the right balance between attack and defence and have the team improve in this area during the latter part of the season otherwise I will be ready to see a change in manager.

Tl;dr: viva Vitor.

A particularly ill informed load of crock.

The lowlight being seizing upon Aiden McGeady as being the best example of the "costly mistakes" in the transfer market Bobby has made whilst here and devoting what seems like half the article to Aiden's career.

Aiden is the only "mistake" Bobby has made in the market thus far yet and it was hardly "costly" in this day and age.

And I don't know what the heck point is trying to make about James McCarthy.

Giles seems to have a problem with Bobby pointing to Sterling's cross costing us a goal.

What does he expect Bobby to do.....just shrug it off and say bugger all?

And he refers to Evertonians as "a tolerant bunch".......lol

Yeah, right Johnny :pint2:

He says Bobby "talks too much" for his liking.

That's rich coming from a failed manager who took up "talking too much" for a living.

Stance: Out. At the end of the season if we remain mid-table, asap if we start to dance with relegation.

Change: Drop Howard, stop shipping goals, get in a replacement for Naismith, win at least ten of our remaining games and finish an absolute minimum of fifth next season.

He's had time to get it right. All he's done is shown that his first season was a blip his true level of management is a bottom-half standard.
This. Can't believe he doesn't think we're underachieving. Well he knows we are, I just wish he'd just state the truth. I have a feeling he may be able to eke out a fantastic season next year then flop again.

Stance: anti, currently want gone in summer.
Would change if: if we get to Wembley and finish above 10th OR finish in top 6

Not bothered how, he could have a child in goal for all I care if we still win matches.
