Your stance on Martinez AND what would change it?

Martinez does some things really well and other things badly. His attacking style is refreshing and exciting but tends to leave holes at the back. He's done a great job at recruiting young talent and turning them into world class players. The value of our squad is at least double of what it was a few years ago. Well known players are now looking at Everton at a valid option to hone their craft. That hasn't happened in a long time.

My main fear is that if Martinez goes, we could lose the ability to entice guys like Lukaku and Deulofeu. Those guys give us hope of a brighter future.

The question I try to ask myself is, do I think Martinez can fix the defensive and focus problems while maintaining the attacking flare we need. He seems to be an intelligent guy and has shown the ability to make changes (albeit after a long time of hitting his head against the wall). Then again, Wigan always struggled massively with their defense.

One thing I don't think is mentioned often enough is that young players worst attribute is their inconsistency. If you play a lot of young lads, you're going to see a roller coaster of performances.

Another thing I've noticed is that when Moyes was around, we would win occasional big games but it never felt like we outplayed the top teams, we just got lucky. There's actually been many times this year and in Martinez's first year where I felt we actually dominated a top team (although the results this season haven't followed).

Overall, I think I'm willing to let Martinez have one more crack at this. I'd give him until about November/December. If we haven't started converting all this promise into actual results, I'll be fine with letting him go.

We are Everton the "Nearly" team we look like we could do something and then fall flat on our face, the team has no balls, we are lacking balls throughout the whole squad including the manager, the only player with some actual genuine balls is Besic, the rest are a bunch of fraudulent no marks with no passion and heart.

I am sick of us looking for the "right characters" to bring to the club and fit into the dressing room, I would rather we brought some ed the balls in and really shuck up the dressing room, because at the minute we have a team of fags with nothing about them.

There is only one captain in my eyes and that is Besic, and lets start from there.

Martinez no mater what happens from now will never be the long term solution, he hasn't got what it takes to be able to make the calls that we need. He hasn't got the professionalism to analyze what is going wrong and make the necessary changes, he hasn't got the mental capacity to add more knowledge to his understanding of the game, he simply isn't a top flight manager and never will be.

Do you think that RMs wife ever says to him "Bob, why do think that 40,000 Evertonians are wrong about Tim? and why are 40,000 RSs
laughing up their sleeves? Why did the greatest football manager of all time get rid of him? errr could you be wrong dear"?thinking about it
I suppose though, if I had just put £25M into our joint account, my missus wouldn't give a [Poor language removed] either!

You would put £25 million in a joint account with the missus........:hayee:

We can't start from there.....he is out for the rest of the season.

I am a fan of Martinez. I enjoy the attacking style of football we are playing, but the amount of goals we concede is appalling. He seems like an intelligent man who should be able to figure out our issues that we have been having on defense. Even though I absolutely love our attack, the most important thing is that we get results, which is not happening at the moment. Right after the city match I was calling for his head, but maybe we should till the end of the season to try and sort things out. I want him to succeed because I think he is very good players manager and positive with the squad. The problem is I believe our squad is way too good to be where we are at in the table and that lies with the manager. I just want Everton to win, and I'm not sure what we need to do to make that happen.

At the end of the day, his biggest strength has become his downfall. He inspired hope, and talked about restoring Everton as a top side who could challenge for the league.

He raised expectations at his own peril.

That said there has been a vocal 'never wanted him' contingent of our fanbase who were waiting and watching after the first season.

The massive boos he received in his second season was clearly the same abhorrent folks who were calling for his head after the first three draws in season one.

Moyes started off so many seasons so poorly, yet I never remember boos ringing out like they did last season.

Ultimately the toxic atmosphere of Goodison built on failed hopes built up by Martinez has been his downfall. That toxic atmosphere is clearly affecting the performances on the pitch by a largely young side. Folks were very happy knowing we'd never win anything but at least we were the best of the rest with Moyes. He never had the courage to put expectations on himself.

Keep us up...plucky little Everton punching above their weight. Clearly a more popular route as expectations are kept at a minimum.
