It is, but in this particular instance it may not have been the best idea because we actually need a right back. If he’s ready this season it’s fine, if he’s not then you’d have to say it probably wasn’t the best idea in the circumstances.

If you could not link that paper that would be great.

I thought he was genuinely abysmal. He looked terrified every time someone ran at him and had no impact going forward.

Some WUMs are so good that they can go undetected for years, provoking people and enjoying the fallout while being clever enough to remain a secret. Others are like you, giving the game away within about 3 posts.

I mean it’s a bit mad to suggest he hasn’t tried isn’t it. The blokes been really good for us, and by all accounts is a great pro and a good captain. He’s not at the level we need anymore, he should have been replaced a couple of years ago, but he wasn’t. He’s evidently still seen as ahead of...

Do we really have to hate him and mock him though? Can we not just say he’s past his best and no longer good enough but still being sent out there and doing his best? I don’t know why we have to properly turn on players when their legs go, it’s weird.

Yeah that's what i'm saying, we can look at it and say why the hell have we signed him (at this moment in time i mean, when we needed a right back) but it's hard to say they're making the wrong decision in not picking him because how do we know? There's clearly something that stops him from...

It's odd, and makes the signing seem a bit bizarre, but I'm not sure we can say it's the wrong thing to do because we just haven't seen enough to have that opinion. To be honest Lampard's comments didn't exactly make it sound like he was knocking on the door either.

Same as we do with anyone else? Nobody's advocating playing Joe Anderson at left back are they? Why don't we just give him a try, see if he's any good? Because we employ coaches and managers to make those decisions, that's why. I'm not saying they're making the right decision, just that the 'how...

I don’t doubt it, but it seems pretty clear that there’s something about him (currently) that managers aren’t convinced about. I mean it could be a coincidence, but at some point you have to start thinking maybe he really isn’t ready yet.

It’s worrying that both Benitez and Ferguson have dropped Coleman though, and picked Kenny ahead of Patterson. I said the other day, I’m not judging him in the slightest because I’ve barely seen him, but if he wasn’t good enough for rangers to find a place for him it’s maybe just that he’s...

Seriously concerning if he’s seen not seen as a viable option considering the competition.

    2021/22 Nathan Patterson

Yeah I get that but it's not like he's a class act or anything, he's a player who spent most of his career in England in League One. It's not that surprising that if Patterson hadn't become first choice at Rangers he might not be ready to become first choice here just yet. I've barely seen the...

This seems like a much more convoluted scenario than the possibility that a lad who wasn't seen as ready to get games in the SPL is also not seen as ready to get games for us.

It doesn’t matter which way you look at it, the fact we’ve needed a right back for about 3 years and then finally signed one who isn’t ready to play is absolutely bonkers. I’m sure he’ll turn out to be a good signing but I really hope it doesn’t cost us in the short term.
