Derby build up thread

Had we had some correct refereeing we could have won two of the last three Anfield derbies and that was with Moyes apparently playing his old favourites telling them not to win . Even Beckford scored against them. The majority of recent derbies have been them holding on for a draw. All of this with Suarez Sturridge and the pass master (who's been majorly found out) playing . So even with our b team we have more than enough to not only match them but to take the play to them. If we don't concede set pieces and don't over commit to allow them to counter how else will they score?

Anyway, lads, there's just over 24 hours to go and we know several things for sure:
- We won't have our strongest XI out there
- We won't go there playing for a nil nil
- We'll likely come up against 11 men and the referee
- We'll be a threat regardless of which team we put out

This is a massive game, as if we lose it we're four points behind them with a massively inferior goal difference. It wouldn't be curtains for top four if we lose, but it'll be a massive boost to them and a huge setback for us. But let's face it, they're not all that, are they? Villa schooled them recently before they had to resort to cheating to get back into it, and Bournemouth nearly shown them up on their last outing. Suarez is on an average of over a goal a game, but he scored 'just' three in his last seven, while Coutinho - the best signing ever - as been found out. When they came to Goodison they killed us on set pieces; we'll surely have learned our lesson now. Even with players out we have game-winners out there; Miralas, Baines, Lukaku to name just three, and also a whole load of leaders in Howard, Jagielka and Gar Bar. If all goes wrong we can always throw on the human steet lamp Traore and hope for the best(!). Let's forget the transfer window and all criticism of Billy Blue Bullsheet and concentrate on getting behind the lids - we can do this and a win makes us favourites for fourth imo. Get into 'um eh? FFS.

If Barkley plays then defensive frailites (sorry, defensive weakness) just might be balanced out. The lad is that influential. Forget it if he isn't there though. He's as important to us as the rat is to them. He's now a talisman as well as a player.

Midfield two of ours are quality. They'll keep us from being overpowered but we'll still lose. If Barkley is added it becomes a closer call. If Lukaku gets his touch again then it might not all be in vain.

Two big ifs though isn't it?

Not really.

One if for them: If Suarez doesn't score they're screwed.

So what?

We need to pass the ball well and quickly tomorrow night. They'll get after us like they did Spurs. That's why if Hibbert and Osman are playing you worry about attacks getting broken down and our play being slow and easy to read.

I just went passed the bookies and they had Sewerez ad in the window hat trick 10/1 thought to myself cheeky bar stewards so I went in to see the odds of a Lukaku hat trick 50/1 had a cheeky quid on it at them odds, saying that I would need £50 quids worth of tissues if he scored a hat trick at analfield!

True, and he is out of form by his standards. But he's like Rush: always saves them for us.

Pah. See, we've got a few if's for sure. But take their one goalscorer out and they won't get more than one lucky goal. Take Lukaku out for us and we'll still create and can score. Free kicks - multiple options - Mirallas, Barkley if he's in, then the lucky bounce here or there, etc. They really do have Suarez, or cheating for Gerrard to step up and slam home a penalty.

For that reason I am confident.

People moaned at Moyes for being negative and yet they're stating we absolutely will lose if we're not at full strength.

Madness.

Aston Villa just drew with them and should have won ffs.
