After that interruption, the answer to the question is a guy called George Mahon, he was actually the organist at St Domingo's, along with a teacher called Sam Crosbie and Dr James Baxter they organised the split from 'King John'

It was Mahon who was responsible for the club acquiring a plot of land known as Mere Green field sited on the north side of Stanley Park, in fact it was over grown allotments. The land was cleared by volunteer supporters and work commenced on building Goodison Park. We owe our thanks to a church organist for over a 100 years of life at GP

Next question

In what year did we first win the FA cup, who scored, who was the opposition and name me the captain of that team.

Well done, two right but who was the captain:biggrin:

Aye it was Jack Taylor. Had a flick through 'Everton - The School of Science' this morning.

That can make you go blind lad:lol:

Correct, it was Jack Taylor, he was affectionately known as the 'gentleman player' We reached that final by beating the previously invincible PNE after two replays.

Next question

When that devil incarnate John Houlding decided to form his own football team to play at Anfield what was his first choice as a name for that team?

everton athletic

The despicable Alderman Houlding (yes they had connections with the City council even then) initially attempted to usurp the name Everton, he then tried many variations, including athletic, but was refused accreditation. In his desperation he even tried to call his club Liverpool football club but the rugby team object as they said it was too similar to their title hence they ended up as Liverpool Association Football Club, a bastardised name if ever there was!(y) (y)

New question
