And it wouldn’t matter if Lyon were a bigger club, we’d instantly become more valuable due to the fact we’re in the richest league in the world… we’d be the priority.

Obsession with crowds is also a small club mentality thing, it doesnt really matter.

Lyon have played 130 games in the champions league, they play in Europe regular, they have bigger income. Thats what matters to payers - money and playing in big competitions.

Could we become bigger, yes sure......But if its that easy why are we struggling ??!!

We have just finished 15th, Lyon will be playing in Europe again next season.

He didn't say we're not as big as them he said we're not bigger than them and in the context of what we're talking about we aren't. Who cares about which of us has won more trophies over 140 years the point is a club which is regularly reaching Europe from one of the big 5 leagues isn't going to be a feeder club for us in the foreseeable future.

You do know that players like to play in European competitions dont you ???

Thats why talking about consistant european season is relavant, its quite simple.

All that other noise about you cvrying about weakers leagues is just typical English arrogance....they handed us our arses when we played them in Europe twice

The fact thet he openly says ANY club is a priority in his group is a worry, some blues are being a little short/sihted here.

I knopw we have no choice in all of this though, but im just worried anout ANY owner these days.

Understand the anxiety around it - but yeah, out of our control.

In some ideal world it would be somebody with emotional ties to the region and the club - we kind of had that with Bill though and it wasn't enough - so we have to go to the global market to get somebody who can play the global game.

That is as much the state of the English game as it is anything to do with Everton specifically.

It's been interesting to watch Utd run more as a US corporation and how that has enhanced their revenue but sidelined the football, and even the stadium.

Anyway, US or Middle-East ... we've had proxy Russian / commodities ownership and I suppose it has (hopefully) got us the stadium - could a US owner bring the business competitive edge ?

Players will rather play in the premier league and double, triple their salary than get a couple of big ties in the champions league or play a handful of games in the europa league

They also pay around the same higest wages as we do.

If Lyon were getting champions league football every year and challenging PSG fair enough, but finishing 6th/7th and playing in the conference is not going to attract and keep their best players from coming to the premier league. Last summer they sold one of their best players to Bournemouth. 2 yrs ago they sold their best player to 14th placed West Ham.

We sold our best player to Newcastle, and have done before.
Newcastle must be bigger than us then......
