RightoI thought that when he was having a go at me previously, but it was important for him. Just thought I would return the favor.
Not sure where the 7th place thing has come from though.

Try going back to it, and deselecting it?Davek, but I've got weird glitch going on, every time I quote that post of Daves, this one comes up.. Tried it 4 or 5 times now. Odd.
So, are we saying getting 7th constitutes success? No, no no, I am not having that!
Top 7 wouldn't be my idea of failure for. First season playing in a new way. Not by a long chalk. I'd consider it to be a great marker down.
We can actually get 5th/6th with a points total in excess of anything Moyes run up. If that happens you'd have to say that was a fantastic first effort.
Actually, this feller has had £17m robbed off him in squad value. To do what he's done is nothing short of excellent.
Nope we're saying Dave had a go at me about how only silverware is success when I used it for the ginger one a while back, then said Martinez is having a successful season.
Everything else is people misunderstanding and escalating a throw away slightly jokey comment
We never played like that at home, though.
Ever. Under Moyes we took apart city, utd, spurs and chelsea at goodison. Made complete mincemeat out of them.
Away from home, we didn't. But at home we did and as much as I hate the way this revisionist history is making me defend a manager I despise, I'm not going to insult everton by pretending that our great victories over utd and city that were great days for me in the ground watching were flukes with us 'hoping we could nick a goal'. Leave that crap to the media.
No we never. We did win but at no stage did we make mincemeat out of them. We ground results out of them by stifling, harassing and defending in numbers and Yes they were good results and some probably deserved but not by taking them apart
No mate I am certainly not. You're blatantly wrong.
No mate I am certainly not.
So when Fellaini left Bellamy on his arse when we beat City and stopped them getting 4th in mancini's first season, having twice as many shots as them and most of the possession we didn't outplay them? Or the 2-1 win over city the year after where we had 60% of the posession?
The 2-1 win vs Spurs only CL team where we had 61% of the ball and 13 shots on target to their 5, where Redknapp in his post match interview said "Credit to Everton, they upped the pace in the second half, and it could have been more than 2" we were just playing with ten men behind the ball?
The 3-1 vs Man U where we again had more shots and more possession and we played a midfield of arteta, osman, pienaar, bilyaletdinov and donovan was all about us out muscling with with strength and mass defending? Or, hell, the 1-0 last year where Fellaini battered them and we seemed to have a shot every couple of minutes was won by defending in numbers?
You didn't think we were the better side vs Chelsea with Straq up front where we littered their goal with shots?
Or the 3-1 demolition of then 4th placed Villa in the cup final year, where Arteta had more of the ball then their entire team combined? The routine 2-0 dispatch of Hodgson's Liverpool? The putting in their place of pardew's still Cl challenging Newcastle when we beat them 3-1 and could have had more?
All of those were vastly more convincing wins than the only win we have over a top 5 team under Martinez which was against chelsea where they had twice as many shots as we did, far more of the ball and we basically out fought and out defended them.
I'm not denying for a moment that we won games by backs against the wall defending under Moyes as well, of course we did. But goddamn it we could play as well, and as much as I don't like Moyes at all, I'm not happy with people rewriting our history to make everton look worse so martinez looks better.
Why have you mentioned Villa, Liverpool and Newcastle??? Not the same as Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal,
The City game you mention are not anywhere near the city of today and in the last 11 years that is not many games you have highlighted...why? You know the answer.
The Man Utd fellani game I grant you but what did we do after scoring? Hung on.
You certainly know how to exaggerate.
We still have to play Arsenal, Man Utd, Man City at home so there is 3 more games to judge RMs first season.
Away from home we have already beaten Man Utd albeit a Moyes Man Utd but have you seen us go toe to toe with Chelsea and Arsenal previously and be unlucky to come away without victory.
I am certainly not rewriting history to make Martinez look better I already think Martinez makes us look better and now know for a fact that he will not try to play for a draw. He will always attempt to win. That in my mind is already a massive positive.
