Oh, so just Kudus then

Because all the others were rumours.
either way, with the lack of funds i don't think thelwell can be blamed 100%. i [Poor language removed] hate moshiri, but let's face it - the war forced our shadow owner's money to dry up

we never should've gotten involved to start with

Don't think he's to be blamed for selling Richarlison. We knew that had to happen.

He's not done anything in his time here to suggest he knew that the immediate priority was the squad and not trying to fix the internal issues at the club (which again, aren't his fault). We still haven't got a head of recruitment, which should have been the first port of call.

That being said, if Lampard is sacked, then the DoF has to be the one who picks the manager, picks the players and takes ultimate responsibility.

We can't really afford to sack both a manager and DoF and need both, as we'd be in the same situation as this time last year.
I don’t think anyone is blaming him for selling Richarlison. The issue is he probably knew this from walking through the door and had 5 months to find a replacement for the goals and work ethic

He came back with…..

I can’t anymore

Yes and knock all of this Director of Football bollocks on its head at the same time. We've tried three, two supposedly the best in the business, and then this Kopite who has finished us off. It doesn't work here when you've got Kenwrong still with his fingers involved in everything and a mad owner who goes behind the manager's back and interferes with transfers.
I mean Walsh was never a DoF. He was a scout that we bizarrely hired as a DoF. He'd have been a good head of recruitment, that's it.

Brighton have a DoF. Brentford do. Liverpool had the very best. Succesful clubs have DoFs. It works. You just have to get rid of the tosh above it. Unfortunately our owner hasn't done that.

His main job is to recruit football players

He spent the Richarlison money on Maupay and McNeil. How can anyone have any confidence in him?

And that's before we even consider whether he is qualified for the DOF role? What are his credentials to get this job?

His record in recruitment at this club is an absolute joke.

If the manager is going (and he will) then the DOF absolutely must follow because he provided the manager with a diabolical front line not fit for the championship.

Recruitment will be one of his roles and he has brought people into these roles the past few months.

Lampard has failed, he joined after Lampard. He at least deserves the chance to select a manager to rectify the situation on the pitch.

Well no. We needed creativity and goals he gave us McNeil and Maupay

He had 5 months, he let us go into the season with a front 3 of Gray Gordon and McNeil

Inherited a crap shoot of a squad, which survived by the skin of its teeth. Subsequently selling our best player to balance the books.

Hamstrung by FFP, so had to go dumpster diving to find “mugs” happy enough to except our low down payments I.e. McNeil.

Some of the signings have been totally useless such as Onana and Maupay, but what do you expect?

Long before Thelwell, we had an issue with strikers. We’re going down and of course he’s got some blame to take, but he’s not a miracle worker.

He gets a solid 1/10 for me though if he insists on giving Iwobi, Gordon new contracts whilst not renewing Pickford.

They both should go. I can't believe people are defending a man who wasted the Richarlison money on such dross.

We need to clear out everyone from top to bottom because we are a complete joke.

but we have nothing to spend, lad. yeah i would've loved some sneakily good scouting, but he can't be held to not finding a cut price gem when he's scouting with 2 hands tied behind his back

richarlison money was spent to fix multiple roles - some worked, some didn't. bad gamble, but imagine if we splashed that money on just one player and he flubbed? we'd be solidly 20th

He actually hasn't yet hired a head of recruitment. That's the issue. Because I agree, recruitment is part of his role but not the whole job. But in the summer, it was the priority job. I fear he didn't fully grasp that. Not based on my knowledge of it, but just because of the evidence in front of our eyes.

I'm not sure a man who pushed for Maupay and McNeil and signed off significant spend on them (along with Lampard) should definitely be trusted with hiring the manager, even though I agree that in the ideal DoF scenario, that's how it should work.

I think him and Lampard haven’t been on the same page, and I defo blame Lampard for how rubbish we’ve been so Kev gets a stay of execution, for me.
The sad thing is, is that they have been. They get on fine and have signed off on what we signed and the targets.

I do question a DoF who decided that hiring a head of recruitment could be left so far into his tenure. I understand when we didn't know if we were staying up, but the summer was ample time to get that in place.
