He actually hasn't yet hired a head of recruitment. That's the issue. Because I agree, recruitment is part of his role but not the whole job. But in the summer, it was the priority job. I fear he didn't fully grasp that. Not based on my knowledge of it, but just because of the evidence in front of our eyes.
I'm not sure a man who pushed for Maupay and McNeil and signed off significant spend on them (along with Lampard) should definitely be trusted with hiring the manager, even though I agree that in the ideal DoF scenario, that's how it should work.
The whole director of football model has been a complete disaster for Everton. Why are we still persisting with it? It could not have gone more wrong.
