I think Moyes era is admirable considering the shoe string budget.

The subsequent managers, Martinez, Koeman managed to bring us to European spot in their first season. Carlo almost did and it was the closest since Koeman.

I think on there some new manager cycle we sort of get a good first season but no longevity or ability to sustain beyond a good first season

I would say we manage to replace Moyes with quality managers (sort of) but not the consistency and longevity of Moyes era. Under Moshiri, none of our managers lasted longer than 2 seasons (maybe less!)

My theory is the managers were not given the correct platform to perform well beyond a first season. There are many factors at play - 1 Player investment/Recruitment 2 Coaching 3 Youth players integration, etc. I think under Moshiri era, we seen our club sign players from positions we don't really need and ignore positions that the team desperately needs (Right back, Left Back, Centre Back, Midfield) but instead sign "Agent" players. When Gueye left, we didn't replace him. When Lukkaku left, we didn't replace him. the most glaring one was right back and the debate is still out there if Patterson is the right RB for us.

There was one year we sign probably 10 No. 10s.

I hope Thewell & Lampard do a better job at getting players for the positions we need, which are CB and CM...and now a replacement for Richarlison.

yes. the plot thickens! he deffo ran Rooney out of the club when everyone and their dog knew The Boy was one of the best players in the world but couldn`t get a regular starting place at EFC
Listen to the rooney interview moyes did not want to play him in case he got injured, I have no idea what point you are making but anyone with half a brain knew he was getting sold under kenwrights leadership.

`in case Rooney got injured` ?? maybe Conte might not play Richarlison in case he gets injured too! was Rooney wrapped in cotton wool for a sale you mean? my thoughts on this are that it stunk. Moyes made sure Rooney was on the pitch for the minimum amount of time and it was ridiculous especially for a boyhood blue to leave EFC so early in his career. Moyes was a rat and still is

I can’t get his big grin running up the steps to take the United job while still Everton manager but I have to put my petty nature and spite away to think more reasonably.

Let’s be honest Everton have never replaced him and there’s lessons in that to use as a platform for fixing the club in the future. Moyes’ style of pragmatism works much better at generating authenticity with the fanbase. His hard working point to prove signings and his crushing of ego for the good of the team works infinitely better than Everton’s experiment at being rich and signing fancy bums.

Which begs the question, do some of those who cried for his departure and perhaps - some would say hastened it - now feel any remorse.

Evertonians begged for wealth and it left us open to a predators who have poisoned us from within.

No poll, only humility and openness here.

Ofcourse it stinks moyes couldn't give a toss if he was a boyhood blue or not, him and kenwright are made for each other just like the the dildo brothers at west ham, his job is to make the board look good and in return hes paid a fortune , his net spend is ridiculously good , personally I'd rather win things, he would rather play it safe and make himself look good, hes played another blinder at west ham , I said to a west ham fan on this site enjoy your European football but you wont win anything hes terrified of the pressure winning brings.

Rooney himself says in his Amazon documentary that the club stopped him even training with them in the summer as they couldn’t afford for him to be injured, they were trying to sell him to Chelsea as they’d offered more than united and Newcastle.

That season in Europe when we got knocked out to fiorentina. We played some great football in the early rounds.
It was good, but it wasn't the only time.

If Arteta was in the same form that he was in the season prior, we'd have been brilliant. He struggled a lot with injury that year.

I quite fondly remember Moyes' final year. I honestly think with a decent centre forward we'd have had a really good chance at top four.

West Ham won’t win anything for the same reason Everton didn’t under Moyes.

Not that he’s a bottler but because there are some vastly better/more expensively assembled teams out there.
