We need the run-in atmosphere from last season for the Wolves game

I think a solid defence can do wonders in the PL. There are teams who regularly score poorly but they are solid and do well.

The balance between attacking threat and defence has to be there though otherwise you just invite teams onto you. Bournemouth are a good example - defensively poor all year. They knew we are toothless and so felt confident in attacking us..

Some more output from our forwards and I could see us doing well.

Exactly that.

Is anyone really surprised that only 1 team who sit 20th have scored less than us?

I think it's a very safe assumption that 15+ outscore this Everton team.

We could have prime Beckenbauer and Maldini in defence and we'd still be in a relegation scrap.

We're a team who lack so much quality that we are relegation fodder.

All the warning lights are flashing and they have been for a long time.

Maybe they won't. What then...How much more angry can you get?
I don't know what this reply means ^
But, if you think the fans will keep us up this season, I think you're dreaming. That energy doesn't come easy, and we spent it all last season. The squad we have CAN perform far better than what we're seeing, so this notion that they're all trying their best and just can't do any better is preposterous, and gets them out of jail too easy.
Bottom line here, the fans ARE performing, and the players are NOT performing, so lets not put any of this on us fans.

I'd personally like to see Garner given a go. He seems to be better at possession and creativity (certainly set peices) than Onana and Gana.

At least then we might have a bit more control over the games at home.

I don't. I expect the players to. Will they...who knows?

Can fans influence it...yes. can they influence it positively and negatively - yes.

It's a choice which.

Yeah, shared my view on that the other week.

Mindful we're taking this thread away from @Mikey_Fitzgerald point - it's just I don't think the players are good enough to drag over the line. We need to have players lined up to come in the first few days of the window opening.

No coincidence that the worst atmosphere of the season produced the worst performance (Leicester). I don't count the ones away from home as we've been crap for ages so no surprise if we get beat any time the opposition are remotely on it AND in most cases we fail to put away the opening big chance that could change the course of a match.

Like it or not we need it to be like Palace last season for the Wolves game, to cajole a decent 90 minutes from them. Lose to Wolves and we are in trouble, get 6 points from our next two home games and things won't look too bad.

We shouldn't have to but needs must now.

You're not listening mate, THE FANS ARE ALREADY PLAYING THEIR PART.. Which part of that do you not understand. Honestly think you got lost on a bit of a philosophy trip here, you may have meandered into a 'one track thinking' trap, it's very easily done. Re-find the centre ground, and start again.

Well then. What are your options?

More frustration and anger or support like the end of last year?
Very rarely get angry at them, a few individuals may get my ire and a few shouts at the game but I cant ever let it spill into outright anger, its such a negative human response.

I get frustrated at the lack of effort.

I will support, vocally, monetarily, to my limits, vociferously defend them when they put in a shift and it hasnt worked out, be proud of a our history and contribute to our future, but I will always call it out when they arent pulling their weight, Im a proper "Super Blue me" But I get your point re the players not being invested as we are, its a no brainer, they can earn whatever, wherever with no second thought to the club.

Getting back to the point, it is the players duty to perform and evoke that emotion in the fans and it is in part the fans duty to pay it forward when they need a lift, its not unconditional though. We need something back now and then

Build from the back is still a solid philosophy, but you still need an attacking threat, we have none, at all. So your point is spot on.

Could you put more of this in caps. I struggle to understand when you don't.
