One average PL season. Equalled our second best PL record

One tosh season which was blamed on Europe

One tosh season which there are attempts to write off because we had an easy run in the league cup until we met a decent side and an easy run in the fa cup including a below par Chelsea. Beating lower level opposition does not point to progress

Unreal.

And it's because of that type of unreasoned response that we go around in circles. Has he failed to make top ten in a season? Yes. Will it happen again? Very possibly. Do we need to improve our home record? Yes. All acknowledeged. It'd do your credibility the world of good if you too acknowledged some home truths of a manager who has been here a relatively short period in the context of most Everton managers and has utterly smashed through the club's previous best PL total; has assembled a fine group of players that are young and developing but also playing some quality football which has been applauded by commentators up and down the country; has had a domestic cup season which hasn't been bettered in both competitions since 84/85 and through which we can lay the ghost of 21 long years of being without silverware;

That type of balanced approach is what's required here, but it seems you and others are not capable of it and, therefore, cant be taken seriously on the subject.

The sad reality is that we need to win the cup to have EL football to luck forward to next season as we know even if Martinez gets £100 million to spend he'll still most likely underachieve in the league.

That's the reason why I think it's inevitable he'll be potted after next season at the latest, fans won't and can't be happy with only the performances in cup competitions, and even then we've been blessed with meeting some poor sides in both cups this year.

West ham and Swansea both dumped us out last season so even the cups arnt a given with the bloke.

I ask that you join the debate or don't your choice but don't ridicule people for having an opinion.

Wouldn't the world be a boring place if everyone just wanted to sit on the sidelines and not give an opinion for fear of being wrong
Wow. Some major projection gone on there. The point is that I'm going to be wrong. So are you. Why does that matter?
And how exactly is pointing out that stats don't prove what will happen being ridiculed.you don't see anything on the horizon. Fair enough. It is my opinion and it is part of the debate to say I think that's not only something nobody can predict but that nobody should be able to begin to predict. And the second I feel our future is predictable then it'll bore me.
To my mind what you said is doom for the sake of it. And maybe you're so scared of being wrong that you want Martinez out just in case.
Who knows.

because I agree with him. he must some sense he has well over 22 thousand followers, all via what appears to be his own work as apposed having a national media outlet promoting him.
22,000 followers you say.

Great. He must be as important as...erm...some other self publicist who has 21,000 and knows nothing.

I cant believe you;ve answered my question about that feller's authority to persuade anyone by shoving his 'followers' into the fray.

FFS. That's just hilarious tbh.

Wll in Buxie, you've persuaded me now lad.

Had Moyes delivered 2 consecutive bottom half finishes in the PL with that squad, you'd want his head on a spike mate.

Dress it up all you like, but the simple facts remain the same.

His PL performance for 2 seasons running has been substandard given the tools he has had at his disposal

The cup runs have been great, but they don't gloss over the failure in the league.

He's fortunate that the pragmatic Kenwright has still got half a hand on the rudder, as I'm certain he'll urge Moshiri to not shoot him for that failure, off the back of said cup runs.

I now think he'll get at least until the end of the year to turn the league form around. Should he? Not for me, but it's not my decision.

The media are now cranking up the pressure on Martinez, and the emperors new clothes are being seen for what they really are. I think he's a relatively poor manager personally and always have done. He made me eat my words in season 1, but since then he's reverted to type with a vengeance. I can't see him changing and therefore he's destined for the boot, the only question mark imo, is the timing of it. 2 months, 9 months, 12 months, the outcome will be the same. Please bookmark for the vaulting opportunity mate.
First line failure: Moyes could NEVER assemble and coach quality like this. He's a dullard that would have frightened those players off....and you KNOW it.

What's unreasoned about it Dave.

It's not ok to just write off league performance because we might win the cup.

Just because you value points over positions doesn't make it so

As has been pointed out before these young developing players were all a part of the above record points haul so why have they gone backwards under 2 more years of Bobbys guidance

The same commentators who applauded our performances are finally seeing past the illusion and questioning Martinez but you then write them off as hacks or has beens

In the league cup we were knocked out by the first decent team we came across.

I hope we do win the FA cup. With a bit of luck we will.

However it's no indicator of progress. There's no rational way you can make that leap.

The only true indicator of season to season progress is the league and it hasn't been good enough. You attempt to whitewash this away but it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Our first silverware in 21 years, our first consecutive bottom half finishes since Walter Smith got sacked.

I'm not angry mate. I'm quietly laughing at all the tits who think sacking the manager would be the best way to take the club forward..

*waves at Villa*

You think that Villa sacking managers has gotten them to where they are now, utterly deluded, villa re their because they spent money they didn't have and when the owner decided enough was enough they had to sell off every decent player they had, no manager would have been able to save them from the fate they have arrived at this season

ofc totally ignore Leicester changing managers and its effect, or spurs doing similar, or look into the future and see what city are going to do with Guardiola - or god forbid the fact Liverpool will almost certainly improve a lot over the next 2-3 years as Klopp starts getting used to this league and moulds that squad.

There you go attacking me for having an opinion again
